Appearance

Starrk has blue-gray eyes and wavy, dark brown hair, which ends at the base of his

neck, is always unkempt, and is parted down the middle. He has a faded goatee. His

clothing is typical of an Arrancar: he wears a white jacket outlined in black, though

altered with the collar upturned. A black sash is worn in a manner similar to a matadoraround his waist and he wears white gloves. The remains of his Hollow mask consist of

a fanged bottom jaw which is positioned along his neck. His Hollow hole is on his

sternum, right below the tip of his mask. HisEspadatattoo is featured on the back of his

left hand, which he conceals with his glove.

Starrk is a lazy and unenthusiastic man who spends much of his time asleep, and no

one, exceptLilynette Gingerbuck,his other half, appears to try and stop him from doing

so.[2]Despite being the highest-rankingEspada,he is not eager to take a leadership

role, allowingBaraggan Louisenbairnto take over at the battle of the FakeKarakura

Town.[3]He is not particularly interested in whatever is going on around him, though he

is observant and a capable analyst. Unlike many of the Espada, he is not inherently

violent or overly arrogant.

Prior to meeting Aizen, Starrk hated the loneliness he felt in the world but often could

not avoid it because his mere presence killed off others around him. He envied the

weak and wanted to be like them because they could travel in groups. Eventually he felt

so lonely that he divided his soul into two separate beings to escape his

solitude.[4]From there he continued to search for friends until he met Aizen.[5]Despite

having gained many comrades after joining Aizen, he rarely directly addresses any of

them other than Lilynette.

He initially does not seem to care a great deal for his fellow Espada, showing no visible

signs of distress or concern. When he learns ofAaroniero Arruruerie's death, he lazily

states there is nothing he could do about it, and when Baraggan andTier Harribelare

apparently overwhelmed by their opponents' respectiveBankai,he only asksShunsui

Kyrakuif all the captains' Bankai are so powerful.[6][7]However, this indifferent attitudeseems to be dispelled with Baraggan's death. Starrk statesSsuke Aizennot sparing

even a word for Baraggan is horrible.[8]Starrk himself is notably affected by this turn of

events, being drained of his motivation to fight. After arguing with Lilynette for a while,

he states he is not the type for revenge, but his desire to not see any more comrades

die proves to be enough motivation for him to keep fighting.[9]Starrk seems to be

opposed to the notion of killing people, offeringLove AikawaandRjr toribashiachance to run away instead of finishing them off.[10]

Starrk often ends up in situations with him on the receiving end of physical abuse from

his partner Lilynette, even though he does little to stop her actions. He can be serious

on occasion, although his personality does not change much: he comes off as reluctant,

but nonetheless willing to complete the task at hand. Such is the case when he was

ordered to take backOrihime Inoue,despite saying he abhors such a strategy.[11]He is

fairly similar to Shunsui in personality, something Starrk himself acknowledges.[12]

Starrk's sword.

Sword: While having no special properties, Starrk wields a standard-

sizedkatana.He uses it as a weapon in his pre-released state to make up for not

having a standard Zanpakut. It sports a pewter-colored rectangular guard, withsmall protrusions on each corner, and a sun-like design wrapped around the hilt's

collar. The hilt itself is a yellow color, and the sheath is a metallic-gold color.

Powers & Abilities

Master Swordsman: Starrk has demonstrated tremendous skill in swordsmanship,

fighting on even ground withShunsui Kyraku- one of the most proficient swordsmen inall ofSoul Society- and landing a few minor cuts without fully trying (though Shunsui

was also holding back).[39]

Master Marksman: Starrk is quite skilled with his pistols when released. He can fire

very preciseCeroswhile fighting more than one opponent, and can launch a continuous

barrage of Ceros which even captain-class fighters have difficulty avoiding.[40]He

skillfully used them to block at close range againstLove Aikawa.[41]

Starrk's spiritual power.

Immense Spiritual Power: As one of the strongest Espada, Starrk possesses

tremendous spiritual power. Starrk is forbidden to release his Zanpakut inside ofLasNochesbecause such a release could destroy the fortress.[42]His spiritual energy isblue. Prior to meeting Aizen, his spiritual power was unintentionally killing other Hollows

just by being near them, even after splitting his spiritual energy.[43]

Sondo Master:Starrk's skill and speed in Sondo is so great, it seems as though he

possesses a form of teleportation, simply appearing solidly instead of shimmering for a

Cero:His Cero is blue in color. While a standard ability for Arrancar, Starrk's abilities

with it are very unique. As noted by Shunsui, unlike other Arrancar, he can apparently

fire a Cero without a "fighting pose", meaning he can fire it without any warning from

body gestures. Starrk can charge and fire it rather quickly, leaving even less time for his

target to react.[48]He can fire his Cero from various points on his body, such as from

either hand, his chin, and his chest.[49][50]

Descorrer((), Desukorru; Spanish for "Drawing Back/Opening",

Japanese for "Loosed Void"):[51]:A technique used by Espada-levelArrancar,and

sometimes others, to open aGargantabetween theHuman WorldandHueco Mundo.

He uses one to travel to the FakeKarakura Town.[52]

Highly Perceptive Combatant: Starrk is very detail-oriented when it comes to fighting.He notices his opponent's mannerisms, and discerns the reasons behind those actions

and the weaknesses and strengths of his opponent. He can look at unfamiliar attacks

and figure out how they work by just viewing them once.[53][54][55][56][57]

Soul-Separation: Starrk has the unique ability to separate his soul due to his immense

spiritual energy. His spiritual energy splits and turns itself into another being, which

reacts to his spiritual signature.[58]

Second Being

Los Lobos((), Rosu Robosu; Spanish for "The Wolves," Japanese

for "Wolf Pack"): Unlike all other known Arrancar, Starrk's enormous power is not sealed

in the form of a Zanpakut. Instead, it is sealed in the form of another Arrancar, his ownsubordinate,Lilynette Gingerbuck,who, while a separate, distinct being, is an actual

part of him.[59]

Spanish for "Sub-Machine Gun Zero," Japanese for "Infinite Ammunition Hollow

Flash"'): Starrk uses his pistols to simultaneously unleash a powerful barrage of

Ceros which, because of their density and grouping, appear to fuse together into

one large Cero blast.[65]He can change the direction of this attack while firing,

making it extremely difficult to avoid.[66]

EnhancedHierro:Starrk'sHierrois enhanced in this form. After taking a direct

hit from Love's immense Shikai, Tengumaru, and being sent crashing into the

town below, Starrk ended up lying practically unharmed among the rubble while

uttering only a halfhearted "ow" in response to the attack.[67]

Colmillo(, Korumjo; Spanish for "Fang"): Starrk can summon

spiritual energy swords from his bandoleers, which vaguely resemble the

Wolves: Starrk can summon a pack of gray wolves, seemingly numbering in the

hundreds. The wolves are controlled verbally by Starrk, and will chase down the

enemy with the intent to cling via a bite. Upon biting the enemy or getting close

enough, the wolves erupt in explosions of varying size and power. They can be

very destructive; when one exploded, it destroyed a large area of the Fake

Karakura Town in a huge explosion, which dwarfed the surrounding buildings.

Starrk can summon them without limit, thus overwhelming the enemy with their

sheer numbers. These wolves are pieces of both Starrk and Lilynette's soul,

which they can split apart and control in battle. Love states that they are like

flames, for they reform from any harm done to them to continue their attack

without pause. The two bandoleers on Starrk's back are the source of the wolves.

This ability fuses him and Lilynette even further, for the pistols disappear and she

becomes a presence in his body, allowing her to speak through

him.[69](Unnamed)

Appearances in Other Media

Starrk appears in the video gameBleach: Flame Bringer(along with Lilynette) as the

final boss of survival mode, but he does not use hisResurreccin,nor is he a playable

character. He appears inBleach: Heat the Soul 7as a playable character, utilizing his

chest-fired Cero as one of his attacks. He uses his Resurreccin,Los Lobos, as one of

his attacks, in which he releases (with Lilynette) and uses his spirit wolves to attack his

opponents. His Cero is colored grey rather than blue. InBleach: Soul Resurreccin,heis playable in his Resurreccin, usingCero Metralletaas his ultimate technique. In this

game, his wolf-summoning technique, despite not having an official name, is

called Camarada(Spanish for "Comrade").

Trivia

Appearance

Baraggan has the appearance of an elderly man, with a white mustache and white hair.

His face is lined by large scars on the left side of his chin and across his right eye.Despite his aged appearance, Baraggan is quite stocky and muscular, and when

standing (albeit with the slouch of an elderly person), he is of a fair size. He wears a

regal white leather coat with black fur lining, short sleeves, and three black fur stripes

running along the bottom. He wears a golden wristband on both wrists, and a belt

consisting of three thick chains attached to a large metal disk with a sun emblem.

Overall, he resembles a barbarian lord (ofVikingorigin). The location of his Espada

Zanpakut

Baraggan's Zanpakut.

Arrogante((), arogante; Spanish for "Arrogant," Japanese for

"Great Skull Emperor"): Unlike most Arrancar, Baraggan's Zanpakut takes the form ofa large, double-headed battleaxe, with a pair of rounded blades and a slit-eye pendant

in the middle of its focal point. During the battle in the fake Karakura Town, he initially

kept it hidden in his throne.[56]

Baraggan's Resurreccin,Arrogante.

Resurreccin:The release phrase of Arroganteis Rot(,kuchiro; Viz:

"Decay"). When releasing his Zanpakut, Baraggan, holding it out in front of him

with its axe-head pointing downwards, declares the release. Releasing

redReiatsu,the slit-eye pendant between the axe-blades begins to generate

numerous jet-black and purple flames, which, burning away Baraggan's flesh,

reduce his entire body to little more than a skeleton, with his head becoming a

skull and his hands and arms being reduced to bone, though he retains both of

his armbands. Afterwards, Baraggan's body becomes draped in a purple cloak,with a pitch-black tattered fur collar around his neck area and the fringes of his

cloak, which gives him a macabre appearance strongly reminiscent of alich.

Several lengths of golden chain, originally worn like a belt around his waist, now

dangle out of his armbands. The eye from his Zanpakut is now worn at thecenter of his chest near his neck as an elegant pendant. The sandals of his

uniform become white, pointed-toe boots. His crown-like mask fragment turns

downward on the left side. He retains the scar present on his right eye from his

previous form, visible now as an apparent crack in the same location.[57]

Resurreccin Special Ability: In this form, Baraggan's natural abilities are enhanced.

EnhancedHierro:Baraggan's naturalHierrois enhanced, allowing him to take a

direct hit from Su-Fng'sJakuh Raikbenand only have the left part of hisskull and his lower right arm destroyed.[58]

EnhancedSenescencia:While in his Resurreccin, Baraggan can age and

deteriorate every object around him: even the very building he walks upon begins

deteriorating from his mere presence.[59]Because of this, he is protected from

most close-range and melee attacks, for everything which comes within a

specific range of him rapidly ages and disintegrates before actually making

contact.[60]Baraggan deteriorated numerous rocks thrown at him bymaeda'sShikaias they made contact with his field.[61]He used the ability onSu-Fng'sBankaito make it explode far away from him, allowing him to escape

the blast relatively undamaged.[62]

Baraggan uses Respira.

Respira((), resupira; Spanish for "Breathe", Japanese for

"Breath of Death"): Baraggan unleashes a black and purple, smoke-like miasma,

which, radiating outward from him, ages and rots anything which it comes into

contact with. It moved fast enough to strike Su-Fng while she was attempting toescape from it at full speed. The miasma decayed the skin on Su-Fng's left arm

until only shredded clothes and her arm's skeleton were left behind. Even after

escaping the attack, the deterioration continued until the afflicted area was

amputated.[63]Baraggan can control its speed, purposely releasing a

slowerRespirawhen chasing maeda.[61]Respiracan dissolveKid,whichBaraggan demonstrated when he destroyed a Kid cage whichHachigen

Ushdahad imprisoned him in.[64]Baraggan explained this aspect by statingbecause all living things eventually die, the things which they create eventually

die as well.[65]Under normal circumstances, Baraggan is protected from the

effects of this ability, but this protection is negated if his Respirasomehow enters

Baraggan summons Gran Cada.

Gran Cada((), guran kaida; Spanish for "Great Fall",

Japanese for "Axe of Ruin"): Baraggan wields a Resurreccin form of his original

double-bladed axe, which he keeps hidden within his cloak. It is the same axe he

used as the King of Hueco Mundo, before he became an Arrancar. The axe itself

has a much slimmer and darker appearance than its predecessor. It sports two

pointed blades and a large spike protruding outwards from its center, in place of

the now-absent slit-eye pendant. There are four golden chains present around

the base of the spike, which extend into his cloak and attach to an ornate

bracelet worn around his right wrist. Just as before, he wields the axe with a

single hand. Baraggan uses this in an attempt to finish maeda off, referring to itas maeda's "guillotine".[67]As Barragan died, he threw the corroding Gran

Cada as a projectile at Aizen in a final attempt for revenge.[20]

Ggio Vega(, Jio Vega)[68]:The smallest member of Baraggan'sFraccin, his attitude somewhat mirrors that of his adversary,Su-Fng,

hisopponentin the battle over the fakeKarakura Town,but he is very sarcastic,

and enjoys taunting his opponents. He is killed by Su-Fng.

Nirgge Parduoc(, Niruge Parudukku)[68]:An Arrancar

who facedMarechiyo maedainbattle.He relies more on his large size andpower to win. He is killed by Su-Fng when she is thrown away by one of Ggio's

attacks and crashes against his head.

Appearance

Harribel has dark skin, green eyes, blonde eyelashes, and messy short blonde hair with

three braided locks. She wears a variation of theArrancarjacket with a high collar,

which covers the lower part of her face downward, while baring a good portion of the

lower half of her large breasts. The jacket has a zipper running along its entire length,which is opened from the bottom upwards. The jacket's sleeves completely envelop her

arms, terminating in black glove-like extensions at her extremities, resembling the

appearance of a cat's paw.

The remnants of herHollowmask consist of the sides of her face, her mouth, and an

extensive area below and around her neck extending down to, and also covering, her

nipples. She usually hides these remnants from view with her jacket. HerEspadatattoo

is placed on the left side of her right breast. The location of her Hollow hole is in her

lower abdomen where her womb would be.[4]Her appearance before she became an

Arrancar mostly resembled her released state, but most of her body and face was

covered by white Hollow bones, and her weapon was part of her arm, but her hair and

eyes were exposed.[5]

Harribel is calm, taciturn, level-headed, and analytical, preferring to not engage in

combat: she is content with silently observing both parties until the fighting reaches its

conclusion.[6]She strongly opposes the notion of killing others, especially if done to

gain power,[7]but when she is betrayed bySsuke Aizen,Harribel angrily attacks him,proving she can be quite aggressive and brutal.[8]Harribel cares for her Fraccin, being

Immense Spiritual Power: Even before becoming anArrancar,Harribel possessedtremendousReiryoku.[7]As an Arrancar and one of the top four members of

theEspada,Harribel is forbidden to release herZanpakutwhile inside the dome of LasNoches, for if she were to do so, her immense Reiryoku would be enough to demolish

the fortress.[37]Her Reiatsu is golden-yellow.[38]

Highly Perceptive Combatant: While a woman of few words, Harribel has proven to be

an intuitive fighter. She can see through a person's demeanor to determine what they

are thinking about. During the battle between Ichigo and Grimmjow, she noted how the

two were similar, especially in terms of Reiatsu.[39]Her keen intellect and intuition is

proven in her initial fight with Hitsugaya, where she saw through his icy demeanor andidentified his concern for his lieutenant. She sensed a small wavering in Hitsugaya's
