    Important informationBefore you use your car audio systemfor the first time, please take the time toread the instruction manual carefully

    and make yourself familiar with the au-dio equipment. Keep this manual handyin your car for future reference.Traffic safety

    Traffic safety is always the toppriority. Do not attempt to operateyour car audio system unless the traf-fic conditions permit. Familiarizeyourself with the equipment beforeyou start driving.Always make sure that you are stillable to hear any warning signalscoming from outside the vehicle,such as police or fire engine sirens,at all times.As a result, please always select a

    moderate volume for playing your caraudio system while you are driving.

    InstallationIf you would like to install your new carstereo yourself or add other audio com-ponents to the existing ones, thenplease read the instructions on installa-tion and connection at the end of thismanual carefully.AccessoriesUse only Blaupunkt-approved accesso-ries.Remote control unitThe optionally available RC 08 infraredremote control unit allows you to con-veniently operate the most importantsystem functions from the steeringwheel.

    Removable front panel

    Theft protection systemTo prevent your car audio system frombeing stolen, it has been equipped witha removable front panel (flip releasepanel). Without the front panel, the caraudio system is useless to thieves.Protect your car audio system againsttheft and take the operating panel withyou each time you leave the vehicle.Never leave the release panel in the car,even if it is well hidden. The panel hasbeen designed so that it is easy to re-move.Notes:q Do not drop the release panel.q Do not expose the release panel to

    direct sunlight or other heat sourc-es.

    q

    Store the release panel in the casesupplied.

    Removing the operating panel Press 1 .The release panel will unlock.

    First pull the operating panel for-ward and then slide it to the left toremove it.

    q When you remove the operatingpanel, the car audio system will au-tomatically switch off.

    q All of the settings will remain

    stored.q A CD inserted into the car audiosystem will remain in place.

    Replacing the operating panel Slide the operating panel into the

    guides from left to right. Press the left-hand side of the pan-

    el onto the car audio system until itlocks into place.

    Note:q While replacing the panel, be care-

    ful not to press on the display.If the car audio system was on whenyou removed the panel, it will automat-ically switch back on using the same

    settings when you replace it (radio, CDplayer or CD changer).

    Switching the car audio system onby inserting a CDIf the system is switched off and thereis no CD in the CD player,

    press 9 .The flip release panel will open. Insert the CD into the CD player

    with the label facing upwards untilyou feel resistance. Do not useforce.

    The CD will be pulled automatically into

    the CD player.Do not attempt to assist or prevent thisprocess. Press the operating panel closed

    gently until you feel it click intoplace.

    The audio system will switch on. CDplayback will begin.

    Switching the car audio system on/offThe car audio system can be switchedon/off in a number of ways.Switching the car audio system on/off with the ignitionIf the car audio system has been con-nected to your vehicle ignition, it is pos-sible to switch it on and off with the igni-tion.You can also switch the car audio sys-

    tem on when the ignition is switched off. Press down and hold3 until the

    car audio system switches on.Note:To prevent the car battery from runningdown, the radio will switch off again au-tomatically after one hour.

    Switching the car audio system on/off with the removable front panel Remove the release panel.The car audio system will switch off. Replace the release panel.The car audio system will switch onagain. The last settings used (radio, CDplayer or CD changer) will be activated.Switching the car audio system on/off by pressing 3 Press 3 to switch the car audio

    system on. Press 3 for longer than 2 seconds

    to switch the car audio system offagain.

    The system will then switch off.

    Volume controlThe car audio system volume can beadjusted to levels from 0 (off) to 66 (max-imum). To increase the volume, turn the

    volume control knob2 to theright.

    To decrease the volume, turn thevolume control knob2 to the left.

    Adjusting the power-on volumeIt is possible to adjust the volume atwhich the car audio system switches on. Press MENU 8 . Press : repeatedly until ON

    VOLUME appears in the display. Press : to adjust the vol-

    ume.If you adjust this setting to 0, the caraudio system will switch on at the vol-ume used before it was switched off.

    Warning of serious injuryIf the power-on volume is set to themaximum level, it may be extremelyloud when the car audio system isswitched on.

    If the power-on volume is set to 0 andthe car audio system was played atmaximum volume before it wasswitched off, it may be extremely loudwhen the car audio system isswitched back on. This could resultin serious injury to your ears! Once you have selected the de-

    sired settings, press MENU 8 orOK ; .

    VOLUME CONTROL

    MuteYou can reduce the volume of the caraudio system immediately (mute). Press 3 briefly.MUTE will appear in the display.Selecting the mute levelIt is possible to select the mute level. Press MENU 8 . Press : repeatedly until

    MUTE LEVEL appears in the dis-

    play. Press : to select the mute

    level. Once you have made your selec-

    tion, press MENU 8 or OK ; .Mute during telephoneoperation

    If your car audio system has beenequipped with a mobile telephone, it willautomatically switch to mute when youuse the phone. This will not work un-less the mobile phone is connected tothe car audio system as described inthe installation instructions.The car audio system will be muted tothe mute level selected.

    Adjusting the volume of thebeepFor a number of functions you will heara beep if you press a key for longer than

    2 seconds, e.g. if you want to store aradio station on a station preset. You canadjust the volume level of this beep. Press MENU 8 . Press : repeatedly until

    BEEP appears in the display. Press : to adjust the vol-

    ume. 0 means the beep volume isoff, 9 means the beep volume isadjusted to the maximum volume.

    Once you have adjusted the set-tings, press MENU 8 or OK ; .

    Radio operation

    Switching to the radio modeIf you are currently using the CD playeror CD changer, press CDC @ repeatedly until

    RADIO appears in the display.

    Selecting wavebands/memorybanksUsing this car audio system, you cantune into radio stations on the FM and

    AM wavebands. There are three mem-ory banks for the FM waveband and onememory bank for AM.You can store six stations in each ofthese memory banks. To switch between the different FM

    memory banks , press FM 4 . To select the AM waveband, press

    AM 5 .Tuning into radio stationsYou can tune into radio stations in anumber of different ways.Automatic seek tuning Press or : .

    The radio will tune into the next availa-ble station within reception range.Manual station selectionYou can also tune into radio stationsmanually. Press or : .

    Adjusting seek tuning sensitivityIt is also possible to adjust the sensitiv-ity of the seek tuning function to tunethe radio into stations with strong recep-

    tion signals only, or to those with weak-er reception signals as well. Press MENU 8 . Press : repeatedly until

    SENS appears in the display. Press : .The currently selected setting will ap-

    pear in the display. SENS HI indicatesthe highest level of sensitivity, SENSLO the lowest. If you select SENS LO,lo will light up in the display. Press : to adjust the desired

    sensitivity. Once you have made your selec-

    tion, press MENU 8 or OK ; .Storing radio stations

    Storing radio stations manually Select the desired memory bank

    FM1, FM2 or FMT or the wave-band AM.

    Tune the radio into the desired sta-tion.

    Press and hold down one of thestation preset buttons1 to 6 > onwhich you want to store the radiostation for longer than two sec-onds.

    Storing radio stationsautomatically (Travelstore)You can automatically store the six ra-dio stations with the strongest reception

    in your current reception area. Thesestations will be stored in the FMT or AMmemory bank depending on the select-ed waveband.Note:Any stations stored previously in thememory bank will be deleted. Press TS ? briefly.The storing process will begin. TRAV-EL-STORE will appear in the display.After the stations have been stored, theradio will automatically begin to play thestation stored on preset button 1 of therespective memory bank.

    Recalling stored radio stations Select the desired station memory

    bank. Press the station button 1 to 6 >

    on which you have stored the de-sired radio station.

    Scanning the radio stationswithin reception range (SCAN)You can scan all of the radio stationscurrently within your reception range.The scan time can be set in the menuto play from five to 30 seconds.Starting SCAN Press and hold down OK ; for

    longer than two seconds.

    SCAN will begin. SCAN will appearbriefly in the display, followed by theflashing frequency of the radio stationcurrently being scanned.

    Stopping the SCAN function,continuing to listen to the radiostation scanned Press OK ; .SCAN will end and the last stationscanned will continue playing.

    Adjusting the scan time Press MENU 8 . Press : repeatedly until

    SCANTIME appears in the dis-play.

    Press : to set the scan timeas desired.

    Once you have made your selec-tion, press MENU 8 or OK ; .

    Note:The scan time selected also applies tothe SCAN function for CD player andCD changer operation.

    Tuner configurationThis unit is equipped with a multibandtuner. This means that the tuner can beconfigured to suit requirements that arespecific to various countries. The coun-tries/regions available are: USA, Eu-rope, Asia and Thailand. The tuner willonly function optimally if it is configuredfor the country/region in which the unitis being operated.

    Configuring the tuner Press MENU 8 . Press : repeatedly until FM

    TUNER appears in the display. Press or : to set the country/

    region. Once you have made your selec-

    tion, press MENU 8 or OK ; .

    CD player operationThe CD player in this car audio systemcan be used to play conventional mu-sic CDs with a diameter of 12 cm.

    Danger of damage to the CDplayer!CD singles with a diameter of 8 cmand contour CDs (shape CDs) arenot suitable for use with this CD play-er.We assume no liability for any dam-age done to the CD player resultingfrom the use of unsuitable CDs.

    Starting CD player operationq If there is no CD in the player, press 9 .The flip release panel will open. Insert a CD into the player with the

    label facing up until you feel resist-ance. Do not use force.The CD will be pulled into the playerautomatically.Do not attempt to assist or prevent thisprocess. Press the operating panel closed

    gently until you feel it click intoplace.

    CD playback will begin.q If there already is a CD inserted

    into the player, press CDC @ repeatedly until

    CD appears in the display.Playback will resume at the point where

    it was interrupted.

    Selecting tracks Press a key on the cursor block :

    to select the next or the previoustrack.

    Press or : once to restart thesame track.Audible fast forward/reverse(CUE/REVIEW)To start Cue or Review, press and hold down either or

    : until the process begins.Playing tracks in random order(MIX) Press 5 MIX > .MIX CD will appear briefly in the dis-play, the MIX symbol will light up in thedisplay. The next track played will beselected at random.Stopping the MIX function Press 5 MIX > again.MIX OFF will appear briefly in the dis-play and the MIX symbol will no longerlight up.

    Scanning tracks (SCAN)

    You can scan all of the tracks on theCD. Press OK ; for longer than two

    seconds. Scanning will begin withthe next track.

    Note:It is possible to adjust the scan time.

    Stopping the SCAN function, continuelistening to the current track To stop the SCAN function, press

    OK ; .

    The track currently scanned will contin-ue playing.

    Repeating individual tracks(REPEAT) To repeat the track currently play-

    ing, press 4 RPT > .REPEAT TRCK will appear briefly inthe display, the RPT symbol will light upin the display. The track will continue torepeat until RPT is deactivated.Stopping the REPEAT function If you want to stop the REPEAT

    function, press4 RPT > again.REPEAT OFF will appear briefly in thedisplay and the RPT symbol will no long-er light up. CD playback will resumenormally.

    Interrupting playback (PAUSE) Press 3 > .PAUSE will appear in the display.

    Stopping PAUSE Press 3 > during the pause.Playback will resume.

    Switching the display mode To switch the display between the

    track number and time or the tracknumber and elapsed playing time,press / DIS 7 for longer thantwo seconds once or repeatedly asrequired.

    CD changer operation

    Note:For information on how to handle CDs,how to insert CDs into the changer andhow to operate the changer, please re-fer to the instructions included with theCD changer.

    Starting CD changer operation Press CDC @ repeatedly until

    CHANGER appears in the dis-play.

    Playback will begin with the first CD thechanger detects in the magazine.

    Selecting CDs To select a CD up or down in the

    magazine, press or : the re-quired number of times.

    Selecting tracks To select a different track on the

    CD currently playing, press or: the required number of times.

    Audible fast forward/reverse(CUE/REVIEW)To start Cue or Review,

    press and hold down either or: until the process begins.Switching the display mode To switch the display between the

    track number and time or the tracknumber and elapsed playing timeor the CD number and track

    number, press / DIS 7 for long-er than two seconds once or re-peatedly as required.

    Repeating individual tracks orentire CDs (REPEAT) To repeat the track currently play-

    ing, press 4 RPT > briefly.REPEAT TRCK will appear briefly inthe display, RPT will light up in the dis-play. To repeat the entire CD currently

    playing, press4 RPT > again.REPEAT DISC will appear briefly in thedisplay, RPT will light up in the display.

    Stopping the REPEAT function To stop the REPEAT function for

    the current track or CD, press4RPT > repeatedly until REPEATOFF appears in the display andRPT no longer lights up.

    Playing tracks in random order

    (MIX) To play the tracks of the currently

    selected CD in random order,press 5 MIX > briefly.

    MIX CD will appear briefly in the dis-play, MIX will light up in the display. To play the tracks of all of the CDs

    in random order, press 5 MIX >again.MIX ALL will appear briefly in the dis-play, MIX will light up in the display.Note:The CDC A 08 and the IDC A 09 arealso able to play all of the CDs in thechanger in random order. The other CDchangers first play all of the tracks on aCD in random order and then select thenext CD in the changer.

    Stopping the MIX function To stop the MIX function, press5

    MIX > repeatedly until MIX OFFappears briefly in the display and

    MIX no longer lights up.Scanning all of the tracks on allof the CDs (SCAN) To scan all of the tracks on all of

    the CDs in ascending order, pressOK ; for longer than two sec-onds.

    SCAN will appear in the display.Stopping the SCAN function To stop the SCAN function, press

    OK ; briefly.The track currently scanned will contin-ue playing.

    Note:It is possible to adjust the scan time.For more information, read the sectionon Adjusting the scan time in the chap-ter on Radio Operation.

    Displaying the clock briefly To display the time briefly, press

    / DIS 7 briefly.Setting the time To set the time, press MENU 8 .MENU will appear in the display. Press : until CLOCKSET ap-

    pears in the display. Press : .The time will appear in the display. Theminutes will flash and can be altered. Press or : to alter the min-

    utes. Once you have altered the min-

    utes, press : . The hours willbegin to flash.

    Press or : to alter thehours.

    Once you have set the time, pressMENU 8 or OK ; twice.

    Selecting the 12/24-hour timedisplay mode

    Press MENU 8 .MENU will appear in the display. Press : repeatedly until 24 H

    MODE or 12 H MODE appearsin the display.

    Press or : to switch the dis-play mode.

    Once you have selected the mode,press MENU 8 or OK ; .

    Activating the clock for displaywhen the car audio system isswitched off To activate the clock for display

    when the car audio system isswitched off, pressMENU 8 .

    MENU will appear in the display. Press : repeatedly until CLK

    DISP OFF or CLK DISP ON ap-pears in the display.

    Press or : to switch the

    clock display on or off. Once you have made the setting,

    press MENU 8 or OK ; .Displaying the time briefly whenthe car radio is switched offTo display the time briefly when the carradio is switched off, press / DIS 7 .The time will then appear in the displayfor eight seconds.

    Adjusting the tone andbalance/fader

    Adjusting the bass

    To adjust the bass, press AUD / LD = .BASS will appear in the display. Press or : to alter the bass.

    Adjusting the treble To adjust the treble, press AUD /

    LD = .BASS will appear in the display. Press : until TREBLE ap-

    pears in the display. Press or : to alter the treble.Adjusting the balance To adjust the balance, press AUD /

    LD = .BASS will appear in the display. Press : until BALANCE ap-

    pears in the display. Press or : to alter the bal-

    ance.

    Adjusting the fader To adjust the fader, press AUD /

    LD = .BASS will appear in the display. Press : until FADER appears

    in the display. Press or : to alter the fader.

    Switching Loudness on/offLoudness boosts the bass and treblewhen the volume is low to create a morenatural sound. Press AUD / LD = for approx. two

    seconds.LD will light up in the display to indicatethat Loudness is active.

    Adjusting Loudness intensityThe Loudness boost can be set instages from one to six. Press MENU 8 .MENU will appear in the display. Press : repeatedly until

    LOUDNESS appears in the dis-play.

    Press or : to alter the Loud-ness setting.

    Once you have completed adjust-ing the settings, press MENU 8 orOK ; .

    BASS CENTER frequencyadjustmentThe bass center frequency adjustmentallows you to adjust the bass mid-fre-quency to suit the sound system in yourautomobile (50 Hz or 100 Hz). To set the bass mid-frequency,

    press EQ < .BASS CENTER will appear in the dis-play. Press or : to switch be-

    tween 50 Hz and 100 Hz. Once you have completed adjust-

    ing the settings, press EQ < orOK ; .

    Adjusting the spectrometerThe spectrometer in the display usessymbols to temporarily indicate whatadjustments are made to the volume,

    the tone and balance/fader and theequalizer settings.If no adjustments are being made to thesystem, the spectrometer displays theoutput level of the car radio.You can select the type of spectrome-ter you want displayed in the menu.There are two different types available.

    Selecting the spectrometer type Press MENU 8 .MENU will appear in the display. Press : repeatedly until EQ

    DISPLAY appears in the display. Press or : to select either

    SPECTRUM 1, SPECTRUM 2or EQ DISP OFF.

    Once you have completed adjust-ing the settings, press MENU 8 orOK ; .

    Durante el montaje y la conexin esimprescindible observar las

    siguientes normas de seguridad.- Desemborne el polo negativo de la

    batera.Observe las normas de seguridaddadas por el fabricante delvehculo.

    - Al perforar agujeros, asegrese deno daar ninguna pieza delvehculo.

    - La seccin transversal del cablepositivo y del cable negativo nodebe ser menor de 1,5 mm2.

    - Una instalacin incorrecta puedeprovocar perturbaciones en lossistemas electrnicos del vehculoo en la radio.

    - No conecte a la radio losconectores ubicados en elvehculo!

    When carrying out installation work

    and making connections pleaseobserve the following safetyinstructions:

    - Disconnect the negative terminal ofthe battery! When doing so, pleaseobserve the vehicle manufacturerssafety instructions.

    - Make sure you do not damagevehicle components when drillingany holes.

    - The cross sections of the positiveand negative cables must not beless than 1.5 mm2.

    - Incorrect installation may causeinterference with electronic vehiclesystems or your car radio.

    - Donot connect the vehicles plugconnectors to the radio!

    - You can obtain the adapter cablerequired for your vehicle type fromany BLAUPUNKT dealer.

    Durante a montagem e a ligao doaparelho, queira respeitar asseguintes instrues de segurana.

    - Separar o plo negativo da bateria

    ! Respeitar ao mesmo tempo asinstrues de segurana dofabricante do automvel.

    - Quando se procede furagem deburacos, prestar ateno para noserem danificadas quaisquerpartes do veculo.

    - As seces transversais dos cabospositivo e negativo no devem serinferiores a 1,5 mm2.

    - Se a montagem for executada deforma incorrecta podem ocorreravarias nos sistemas electrnicosdo automvel ou no seu auto-rdio.

    - No ligar as fichas existentes dolado do automvel ao auto-rdio!

    - Os cabos adaptadores necessriospara o seu automvel podem seradquiridos nos revendedores daBLAUPUNKT.
