It’s your favorite “starchild” buzzin’ among the stars with a little chitterchat… Everybody is still talking about stellar perfor- mance at the Crown Coliseum from the one and only Patti Labelle. A part of the Community Concert Se- ries, Patti entertained fans from 7 to 70, singing her hits, doing a slide-show tribute of stars present and past (including a picture of Trayvon Martin) and even took the audience to church a little with a few gospel songs. But, no doubt, the highlight of the evening was when she invited a few of the audience members on stage to sing with her. And our very own County Commissioner Charles Evans literally stole the show, singing and dancing on stage with Patti. Word has it, Patti might even make room in her band for our illustrious Com- missioner in future concerts. (smile) When you’re hot you’re hot. Just ask Kevin Hart who’s just been added to the ESSENCE Music Festi- val Lineup at the beginning of July in New Orleans. The comedian/actor is currently starring in the number one box office hit “Think Like A Man.” Speaking of hot (and I’m sure the guys will love this one), actress Taraji P. Henson poses nude for Al- lure magazine’s annual “The Naked Truth” issue. The 41-year-old actress who is clearly proud of her body says she parades around naked in her NYC apartment all of the time: no shades, no curtains, no blinds. Is that screeching I hear the sound of men making their way to NY or the magazine scene stand? LOL After the latest Republican fiasco with Rep. Michele Bachmann using the term “tar baby” to at- tack President Barack Obama’s energy policy, you either have to shake your head at the blatant racism and constant barrage of lies and derogatory remarks mixed with back-handed apologies that keep coming from the Republican party...or laugh at the desperate attempts to constantly throw attention off the fact that they are so obviously flawed and their campaign is weaker than it was four years ago with McCain and Palin. I only have 2 words to say: Deez nutts!! More scandal hits the “Real Housewives of At- lanta.” Fresh on the heels of finding out that Sheree Whitfield was lying about building her “Chateau- Sheree,” we find that another housewife is lying about owning her home. Newlyweds Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann apparently rent their home instead of own it. Tax records show the home is actually owned by Antonio and Kendra Davis - who took the home off the market last Spring - when Kim and Kroy began renting the home. As I have said many times before, whether it’s “Real House- wives” or “MTV Cribs,” rarely are these homes owned by the stars you see on these shows. But it does looks good on television, doesn’t it? And there would be the point...of acting. Moving on..... Singer Eric Benet is quite pleased with his new efforts and admits he’s really outdone himself with the latest album, “The One,” scheduled to drop June 5. In a recent interview, the R&B singer says, “I called the album ‘The One’ because this is the one; the one I’ve been dreaming about my whole career and working towards. I’m definitely at the top of my game vocally. And those fans, or kinda fans out there that have maybe liked an Eric Benet song or two but never really purchased an entire album, this is the one they gotta get.” Don’t have to tell me twice. ;-) This month’s column is sponsored by the Frye Foundation, presenting the Frye Founda- tion Charity Golf Classic, May 19-20, 2012 at the National Golf Club in Pinehurst, NC.
