Sale Information

From T Bar ’s Desk...This past year has been a very different and unusual summer for Duncan and Val. Firstly, the spring was unseasonably wet; then a summer storm demolished their calving barn and by late summer, Duncan was tired of making hay, as the Arcola area produced record forage estimated at four to five times the norm! By September 3rd, they hosted a huge wedding celebration and were rewarded with a new daughter-in-law. But according to Duncan, the summer was a “walk in the park” compared to the years after BSE, with little to no rain.

The Lees and Wilson families, along with the Wrays and Mitchells, have proved that over the past decade or two, they are serious about their programs and the product they produce. Each are competitive in nature and each operation has its own unique fabric, similar in phenotype but different in genotype. The past track record speaks for itself, as many of the cattle offered in prior sales have gone on to be competitive and front pasture producers in their new homes. Throughout our travels this past year, we have seen the results of this sale, as it has assisted in altering the landscape of the Hereford breed.

The offering is “top shelf” with a large group of females bred to exciting services, current year open females who will excite many critics and several herd bull prospects. Among this group of Polled Herefords are candidates for the World Hereford Conference in July of 2012, so check out the offering and be a part of the world celebrations. For those who have been fortunate to export their young breeding stock, look at the possibilities of replacing one for the price of two, simply because we believe that the fall of 2011 will be the last opportunity to acquire reasonably priced replacements.

The”Sweep Steaks” weekend is a wonderful few days filled with quality seedstock and exceptional hospitality. Remember, accommodations are at a premium in the area, so book early.
