New in Blackboard Collaborate 11 Introduction Blackboard Collaborate 11, our new comprehensive learning platform, is comprised of three sets of capabilities:

Web conferencing (formerly Elluminate Live!) Enterprise instant messaging (formerly Wimba Pronto) Voice authoring (formerly Wimba Voice)

With Blackboard Collaborate 11, you get more collaboration choices to support both the pedagogical and operational efficiency goals of your institution. Our web conferencing, enterprise instant messaging, and voice authoring capabilities are combined to facilitate effective and efficient instruction, meetings, and help that support instructors and IT, engage participants, and ensure institutional strategic goals are met. Blackboard Collaborate 11 offers a consistent experience across the entire platform, unifying collaborative online experiences. With a single click, you can elevate a simple instant message chat session to a richer more interactive web conferencing experience. And you can now use the same whiteboard content and have the same video experience across the methods/styles of collaboration, whether you are in an instant message or web conferencing session. More than a virtual classroom and not just for distance learning, Blackboard Collaborate 11 supports both administrative and ad-hoc collaborative uses, like district meetings, faculty professional development, student-to-student instant messaging, large auditorium events, student services, office hours, and much more. Blackboard Collaborate 11 also improves the live video experience. Now all users can enjoy high quality, multi-point, follow-the-speaker video. Blackboard Collaborate 11 offers a new intuitive, modern, and highly accessible web conferencing client interface. This guide was designed specifically for Elluminate Live! V10 clients to help you get acquainted with all that our new web conferencing capabilities have to offer.

Additional Information and Resources

Participant Workflow. Although the moderator has access to more menu options for session and function controls, the participant client interface for Blackboard Collaborate 11 web conferencing is very similar, including audio wizard workflow, switching to telephone for audio, live video workflow, and chat workflow. Language Support. Collaborate V11 web conferencing supports English, Spanish, French, and Arabic. Additional language support is planned for future releases. On-Demand Learning Center. The client interface for web conferencing has improved greatly and, while more intuitive and easier to use, there will be a learning curve even for those familiar with moderating sessions in Elluminate Live! V10. Training for your instructors will facilitate the transition. Additional documentation and training resources for moderators and participants will be available in the Blackboard Collaborate On-Demand Learning Center at http://www-content.blackboard.com/Platforms/Collaborate/Services/On-Demand-Learning-Center.aspx.
