Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
As I compose my last pastors page for Mt Nittany church, I want to thank you all for the last
seven years of ministry that we have shared. There have been joys and sorrows, difficult times
and celebrations. We have shared bread and cup, celebrated in the waters of baptism, welcomed
the newborn Christ Child and celebrated the risen Lord!
As Donna and I have walked through some very difficult times of illness and loss over the past
several years, we have received your prayerful support and some very tasty meals for which
we are very grateful. It has truly been a privilege to walk with you as we serve Jesus Christ
together.
Just to be clear, I need to say that although I’m just up the road I will not be returning for
funerals, weddings, baptisms or Bar Mitzvahs. All of these are the responsibility of your new
pastor effective July 1. We will look forward to exchanging Christmas cards and the like with
many of you, but while friendships and hockey rivalries remain I will no longer be available for
pastoral conversations.
So what to say in parting? Well, how about this; walk together into God’s future with hope.
Don’t let fear determine your course. It has been said that anything we do as the church which
can be done without God’s help probably isn’t God’s will. Walk with courage into your journey
of ministry with Pastor Chris, trusting God to guide and sustain you as you share Jesus with the
world. God never promised an easy walk, but did promise to be on it with us.
May the peace of Christ be with you all!
Pastor Ed
SPRC invites everyone to join together for a Farewell luncheon following the 10:30 morning worship service, on
Sunday, June 9th. Luncheon will be a picnic theme.
Banquet Committee will provide items for sandwiches and
everyone else is asked to bring a covered dish to share
buffet style. There will be a time of sharing. There will
also be a basket for your cards and well wishes.

June 2 . . . The Mommy Shoppe exists to provide affordable clothing for chil-
dren and to encourage families to reach their full potential. In exchange for 5 hours of volunteer work per year, families that work with the Mommy Shoppe can re-ceive 1 free bag of clothing per child, per month. Clothing baby items are also avail-able to families at reduced prices. Volunteer work sessions are held every week on Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm and every Thursday from 11-2 & 7-9 pm, so consider spending some time help-ing sort and tag clothing. Volunteers create the life of the shoppe and are always welcome.
June 9 . . . OUR BENEVOLENT SHARES help support the entire mission of the
Susquehanna Conference UMC. Shares are used for administrative needs and the nu-merous ministries that the Conference oversees. Camp Penn, Green Hills, Mount Ash-bury and Wesley Forest are the camp retreats that the Conference maintains. The Conference is also directly involved with 14 other ministries such as Mission Central,
The Neighborhood Center, Walk to Emmaus, Mission u and The Center. You can learn more about the Sus-quehanna Conference UMC at https://susumc.org
June 16 . . . MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS “People with mental problems are our neighbors. They are members of our congre-gations, members of our families; they are everywhere in this country. If we ignore their cries for help, we will be continuing to participate in the anguish from which those cries for help come. A problem of this magnitude will not go away. Because it will not go away, and because of our spiritual commitments, we are compelled to take action” (Rosalynn Carter). Our faith communities can be an important part of the recovery process through education, support and by helping individuals and families feel part of a caring community. Keep abreast of mental health activities in our own community through the Jana Marie Founda-tion: https://janamariefoundation.org engage
June 23 . . . GREENE HILLS CAMP has been offering a variety of sum-
mer church camp programs for over 50 years. However, many aspects of camp and the reasons why we do them haven’t changed over the years. Church camp experiences can be powerful, transformative, and foundation-
al for people of all ages and walks of life. There’s something about camp that has the power to break down barriers and allows us to connect with each other in a community setting filled with love, grace, and learning from God’s Word. Like all the camping and re-treat centers of the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church, has a rich history of blessing the lives of men, women, youth, and children with a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. You can learn more about Camp Greene Hills, including their summer camp programs and the availability of camping for your group or family, at http://www.susumcamps.org/

June 30 . . . MT. NITTANY PRESCHOOL — Although our church community
has made the difficult decision to close the preschool at the end of this school year, we want to continue to show our support of this outreach as it provides its final services to the community. For years, the preschool has been a place that offers safe, loving and nurturing services for children ages 2 years through pre-kindergarten in the State College, PA and surrounding areas. The Mt Nittany UMC Preschool, has provided caring, friendly and experienced teachers provide a developmentally appropriate, theme-based curriculum that enables children to develop to their fullest potential. We wish all of these staff wonderful things thank them for the time that they have spent helping children socialize with their peers, build self-esteem and work within classroom structure while forming pre-kindergarten and kinder-garten skills within a positive environment through exploration, discovery, creativity and achievement. We also want to thank all of you who have provided and continue to provide your financial support as we prepare for the future.
NOTE FROM THE TRUSTEES . . .Dave Spotts, Chairman
PLEASE CLEAN UP: FLC/KITCHEN … Whenever one of our
outside groups or renters prepare and/or serve food within the
Church facility, they are expected to sweep the floors and clean
all of their used surfaced areas. We must all keep mindful that we currently have
part-time custodial employees and there is only certain days/week where the
Church is scheduled to be cleaned. In order to leave a clean environment for the
next facility user and to better address re-occurring ant and rodent issues, the Trus-
tees ask that all of our internal Church groups clean up after food is prepared and/
or served. Immediately taking out the bag(s) of food garbage to the dumpster
would also be beneficial towards pest and odor control. We thank you for your con-
sideration concerning this matter.
Please join us for Farewell fellowship with
Pastor Ed and Donna on Sunday, June 9
following 2nd service. Please plan to bring a
covered dish to share along with your thoughts,
memories, and kind wishes for Pastor Ed and
Donna as they continue on their journey in ser-
vice to the Lord. Cards are welcome. More information will be printed
in the church bulletin as it becomes available. Please direct any ques-
tions to Patty DeCapria.

To the children and their parents,
It has been my honor and privilege to work with such a great group of families over the last seven years. When I feel down about things going on in the world, I see the love and kindness in the children’s hearts and am reminded there is so much good in the world. As a group we have tried new things together like going to the police crime lab., filling Christmas child and Jarod boxes, and trying our hands at cooking, magic and science (not everything worked out as we planned). We learned more about God’s love and many stories in the Bible. Together we learned how to play the bells, which made me so excited. I know your energy and desire to explore the world can frustrate adults at times. But never lose that inquisitive mind. Always keep learning and learning more about God and His wonderful world. I will truly miss you all. I am sure I will run into many of you at community children’s activities. I will also get to see you grow through your parents FB pages. You will be in my prayers. Thank You so much for letting me to share with you over these seven years. With all my love
Miss Donna

MT NITTANY PRESCHOOL NOTES— Emily Gregory, Director (814) 234-3938
The last few months have quickly gone by in part because the preschool has been so very
busy. May events included lots of birthday celebrations. (May is a very good month!!) We
had fiscal monitoring from the state agency, STARS, which we passed with no problems. The state came to
review our immunization records. We had our All School Picnic at Sunset Park. The PreK students had
their trip in a “real” school bus to Lemont Elementary. They visited a kindergarten class, got to experience
how to do school lunch, outside recess, and meet Dr. Dishong, a former colleague of mine. The 3 year old
class had Transportation Day. The staff set up a “road” with a car wash, McDonalds, garage, etc . The chil-
dren brought their bikes and scooters from home to transport them through their “town”. The 2 year olds
learned about weather, animal homes, and generally how play together. They love coming to school.
PreK will be having a graduation ceremony to end the year . They are prepar ing for this milestone
event, which will be June 6th at 6:00pm.
Then the education wing will fall silent after many, many years. This has truly been a rewarding experience
for me, to see how much of an impact this program has had on so many lives. The church was so fortunate
to continue the A+ program Bonnie Spotts developed. As people heard of our closing, I received many,
many regrets from community members, past families, agencies that provide extra support to some of our
students, state agencies such as STARS and Department of Human Services. Their sentiment was always,
this was one of their favorite sites because it provided such a rich experience for children. The past 3 ½
years have been hard work, but I am very glad the Lord guided me to contribute to the continuance of this
fabulous program. But I feel He is telling me He has something else in mind. Not sure what that will be,
but I know His guidance will be in it.
On a more humorous note, I have been enriched with cascading water events, from broken pipes, water
softeners, hot water heaters, becoming well acquainted with the shop vac. I have frozen due to mysterious
thermostat issues. I have sweltered when the sun shines continually through my windows. I know how to
change paper towels, toilet paper, soap dispensers. I have plunged many a toilet, removed weeds from
undesirable playground areas, answered to “mom” from unrelated children, learned that some regulations
are just plain goofy, ordered various “baby” bugs to watch them mature and repopulate our environment,
learned how to cancel school when we have no electricity as well as when the weather does not cooperate.
I could go on and on. Yes, I have been enriched in many ways!
Thank you for all your prayers and support. Emily
SENIOR ADULT LUNCHEON — Mark your calendar for Wednesday,
June 12th for the Senior Adult Luncheon. We will be honoring Pastor Ed
and Donna before they move on in their journey. It will be Potluck so plan
on bringing a dish to share, anything of your choice. The meat, drink and
place settings will be provided. Be sure to sign up on the sheet in the nar-
thex so that I know how much food to purchase.
The August Senior Adult Luncheon (scheduled for Aug. 14th) will be the
same format. It will be a time of fellowship and to welcome our new pastor, Christopher Pas-
sante. Again bring a dish to share with all. A sign-up sheet will be available closer to the
time of the event. If you have any questions concerning these luncheons, contact BJ Wurst
