Analysis

• Eddie and Marcus hold people up for money to pay their “senior dues” and they bought basketball shoes and waste it. They only do this because Eddie knows that his father has a gun, which gives them the power over everyone they want to hold up. It gives confidence because without the gun, they wouldn’t be holding people up in the first place.

• They also are only robbing people until basketball pays for itself. Since they can’t make money playing high school ball, they rob people until they get paid to play.

• “…we figured that we could barrow the gun anytime, then put it back.”(6)

• “We practiced coming up on people, over and over. Eddie said we should watch how they did it on TV, because they copied things like that from the way it really goes down.”(7)
