You’ve heard of all the funny holidays in February, but have you heard of these hilarious holidays?

Make Your Own Holiday allows you to make a holiday for anything you want. The objective of this day is for you to make a day or event that has escaped recognition….Until March 26th.

Middle Name Pride Day was on March 16th, and was the day for you to be proud of your middle name. Think about it there are plenty of people with the same name as your but your middle name makes you different.

Everything You Do Is Right Day is on March 16th and was made for people who are just having a bad day. Life has good days and bad days but on this day everything is perfect, hopefully.

National Pi Day was on March 14th and celebrates the math concept 3.14, and Albert Einstein’s birth-day. But why celebrate Pi on this day? The date of this holiday is 3/14, and Pi is 3.14.

A duck's quack doesn't echo. ( No one knows why this is)

On Average, 100 people choke on ballpoint pens every year. ( This has taught me not to

chew on ballpoint pens.. ever.)

An octopus has three hearts.

The voice actors for Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse actually got married in real life.

Dead people can get goose bumps.

Everyone has a completely unique smell (except for twins).

It's nearly impossible to tickle yourself.

Frequent dreams are correlated with having a higher IQ.

Most babies are born with blue eyes; exposure to UV light brings out their true color.

It is against the law to burp, or sneeze inside a church in Nebraska.

1386 a pig in France was executed by public hanging for the murder of a child.

The world's oldest piece of chewing gum is over 9,000 years old!

If removed from the stress of the modern world, the average human would sleep about 10

hours a day.

To produce a single pound of honey, a single bee would have to visit 2 million flowers.

11% of the World is left handed.

Right handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people.

More people are killed each year from bees than from snakes.

Staar Gazing By: Logan Howard

During April, we have STAAR testing. The eighth graders will be tak-

ing the mathematics, reading, social studies, and science tests. A select

few 8th graders will be taking an EOC Algebra exam in place of the stand-

ardized mathematics test. Seventh grade will be taking the mathematics,

reading, and writing tests. In addition, sixth grade students will be taking

the mathematics, and reading tests.

As you may have heard, Liberty I.S.D has a newly introduced pro-

gram called the STAAR Gazers program. The STAAR Gazers program was

created to help improve students scores on the STAAR test. Benchmarks,

tutorials, and the STAAR Gazers program are set in place for students to

make better scores on the STAAR test. As a result, students who attend

these different opportunities will become more successful.

The school is trying to motivate students by creating a theme for the

STAAR test called the “STAAR-pocolyse.” It’s a zombie theme with the slo-

gan “Brains...you need ‘em”.

Did you know that the F.C.A. is going on a retreat? Well they are!

They will leave on March 27th and return to the school at about noon on

Sunday. The students who are going are Kori Tulley, Wyatt Tulley, and

James Booth .

The retreat is called the Weekend of Champions. It's for middle

school aged students only. It takes place at Carolina Creek Christian Camp

on Lake Livingston. Musicians, speakers, zip lines, obstacle courses, games

and team sports, not to mention awesome food, are things that these lucky

students will get to enjoy.

You can google the camp at East Houston area Weekend of Champions

or there is also a link on the school’s calendar.

The Hi s t or y of St . Pat r i ck’ s Day

By: Sipriano Lopez

You’ve always thought that the four leafed clover brought good luck, but

have you ever thought as to why?

The four-leafed shamrock, commonly known as the four-leafed clover, is special because Saint Patrick used the shamrock to teach people about the Ho-

ly Trinity. The four-leafed clover is said to represent faith, hope, love, and luck.

Saint Patrick’s Day was on March 17th which is also the death date of Saint Patrick himself. Saint Patrick’s Day was made an official Christian feast day when it was observed by many churches. Saint Patrick’s Day marks the

day Christianity arrived in Ireland.

St. Patrick’s Day also celebrates the culture of the Irish in general. Some

ways the Irish celebrate is by hosting parades and festivals in their towns.

St. Patrick’s Day is a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland, and is cel-

ebrated all around the world.

The LMS Art Gala

The Art Gala is going to be held on May 2, 2015. The Gala is going to have all

of the art from student’s art projects from the whole year. The Gala is for the

art student’s family and friends to see all the art that they’ve worked so dili-

gently to create this year.

The best part of the Gala is that other families interact together while

they look at their student’s hard work. The art students have to work extra

hard to finish all of their art for the Art Gala this year, since the date for the

Art Gala was moved closer.

Theater arts will also be participating in the gala. Also, the LMS

Stars dance team will be preforming at this event. The computer class will al-

so have projects in the gala including movie posters, digital photography,

and print-ready publications. So, everyone, get up and come to the Art Gala

and support your fellow LMS peers. By: Josh Geter

As you can tell, the book fair has ended. Overall the book fair reached its required goal

of sales. Mrs. Damon explained that the money that they raised at the book fair is planned

to be used to buy new furniture for the library. She also said some of the most sold books

were Fence and Backlash. Ms. Damon said, “When the kids were excited for the book fair, it

made me happy.” She also said her favorite book at the book fair was The Titanic. Finally,

A few lucky students from LMS got to take a special trip to Disney World over Spring

Break. Mr. Humber was the person that took the students to Disney. They got on the school

bus, and headed that way on Sunday afternoon, the weekend we got out of school. They arrived

at Disney on the next morning. The students got to do a wide range of fun things. They went to

the Disney park, met several of the Disney characters, and watched the fireworks in the even-

ing. The students were very happy that they got the opportunity to take the trip. It looks like

they had a ton of fun at Disney World.
