JCC BOOK GROUP: THE FREE WORLD by David Bezmozgis. Wednesday, June 13 at 7:30 pm. A New York Times Notable Book for 2011. It is Summer 1978. Brezhnev sits like a stone in the Kremlin, Israel and Egypt are inching toward peace, and in the bustling, polyglot streets of Rome, strange new crea-tures have appeared: Soviet Jews who have escaped to freedom through a crack in the Iron Curtain. Among the thousands who have landed in Italy to secure vi-sas for new lives in the West are the members of the Krasnansky family — three generations of Russian Jews. Next JCC Book Group: October 2013.
PJ LIBRARY is a program offered to the MetroWest community. Families with children ages 6 months to 5 1/2 years are eligible to enroll on a first-come, first-served basis. The child will receive a free age-appropriate book or CD each month! To enroll, contact Andrea Bergman at 973-929-3128 or [email protected].
