CP 42Bitumen CoatingBitumen coating with added rubber for highlyflexible waterproofing indoors and outdoors

CHARACTERISTICS solvent-free ready for use crack-bridging UV-resistant

SCOPE OF USEAs a sealant on concrete, plasters and fully pointedbrickwork. For sealing against ground moisture and non-accu-mulative seepage water. For producing seamless, film-like, crack-bridgingcoatings.For repairing bituminous coatings on flat roofs with apitch of at least 5 %.Not suitable for sealing containers, e.g. swimmingpools. Use CP 42 only for sealing on the external face of thewall.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATIONUse CP 42 only on level, solid, load-bearing, cleanand dry or slightly moist mineral substrates.– Existing load-bearing bituminous substrates must be

brushed off and freed from dust.– The base slab projection and base slab front must be

thoroughly freed from dirt and excess mortar.

1) Moist and wet substratesOutdoors:The substrate must be absorbent, i.e. it should be asdry as possible or only damp so that the primer can be partly absorbed by the substrate. Wet substrates, recognizable by an intense darkening in colour and/ora moisture film on the surface, are only slightly absor-bent when they come into contact with water. Approx.4 days before priming, they must be sealed with CR 65waterproof slurry against rear surface moisture.

Indoors:Especially with brick-built cellars it frequently happensthat during the construction phase the bottom row ofbricks is completely soaked with water, collecting onthe base plate inside the cellar. To prevent this unac-ceptable soaking it is useful to previously apply an in-termediate layer of CR 65 inside the cellar.

2) Uneven brickworkCarefully sweep off the substrate and apply a primingcoat of diluted CP 42.Mortar joints of 2 to 5 mm, plaster ridges in bricks aswell as large-pored surfaces, shrinkholes and concretevoids should first be covered with a scratch coat (e.g.CT 23) to avoid air trappings and the danger of blister formation.Mortar pockets, cracks and mortar joints of > 5 mmmust be filled with mortar of mortar group II or III. Forrepairing larger defects before priming use e.g. CT 23repair mortar.

In the case of brickwork with numerous projections andcavities cover the wall with a levelling rendering madeof cement mortar.

3) Preparation of inner and outer wall corners andedges

Inner corners and wall/socle junctions must be notchedout as hollow mouldings (diameter 4 cm). These mustbe formed with CT 23 repair mortar prior to priming. Cut off or chamfer all edges under 45 °C. Before covering the substrate with a water-repellent CP 42 modified finish, apply a spatter plaster with theaddition of CC 81 Enhancer Additive.Always apply the priming coat with a brush.Dilute CP 42 with water at a volume ratio of 1 : 1 to 1 : 2 or use CP 41.When diluting with water, carefully pre-mix CP 42 withapprox. 5 % of the total water amount. Then add theremaining water and stir again thoroughly. Preferablyuse a slow-running stirrer.

APPLICATIONCP 42 is ready for use and applied directly with a rol-ler, ceiling brush, roofer's brush or by spraying afterthe priming coat has dried. Apply at least two sealingcoats or a minimum of two top coats. Observe a drying time of approx. 4 to 24 hours.Protect the fresh sealing coat against rain. Remove anyexcess material with water while still fresh. Clean thetools with water after finishing work.Protect the freshly applied coat against mechanicaldamage. Before machine application of CP 42, contact us foradvice.
