Exhibits. Externs may be able to sit in on meetings, such as project
team meetings and brainstorming sessions. Externs will also receive behind-the-scenes access to various exhibit areas and work spaces
(such as the curatorial space, exhibit shop, and animal care area) and meet a variety of COSI's employees and volunteers.

The Extern will receive an overview of the Outdoor Education section and visit the main office for the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks
located downtown Columbus.
The Extern will have an opportunity to experience the size and scope of a
large, urban recreation and parks department.
The Extern may participate in educational activities with groups or help
with small projects to experience the preparation and processes for outdoor/environmental education related activities.
The Extern will have the opportunity to handle/feed the snakes and turtles that are kept at the McKnight Outdoor Education Center for
conservation education.
NOTE:
Due to the nature of the job, we are often outside in the rain, snow,
and mud. Appropriate footwear is required. We typically wear casual boots and outerwear that is 'current condition' appropriate.
Attire is business/outdoor casual.

Experience Range: The externships focuses on the steps necessary to properly curate
collections in OHC’s archaeology collection facility and possibly assist with archaeological field work under supervision of the archaeology
staff. The extern will be able to experience various aspects of the curatorial process. Working with our staff could include: developing a
working inventory of the collections, wash, weigh, number and catalog
the collections, collections research, identify, organize and assign object numbers to un-catalogued materials, prepare condition reports
on selected artifacts, write a blog about skills learned.
Other: Some knowledge of archaeology, especially of the Ohio area, is useful.
Ability to communicate well in an office or lab setting. Will involve stooping, bending, and lifting (up to 40 lbs).

Organization Description: The University of Findlay, with 3800 students, is located in 90 minutes northwest of Columbus. The University of Findlay's TESOL and Applied Linguistic Program prepares students teach English to speakers of other languages as well as work in a number of cross-cultural settings including education, business, health care, or nonprofit organizations. Recently, our M.A. TESOL and Applied Linguistics program was ranked 8th nationally by masterstudies.com. In the Intensive English Language Program (IELP), faculty prepare ESL students with the necessary English skills and study strategies to be successful in their undergraduate and graduate courses. The IELP has national accreditation via the Commission on English Language Accreditation (CEA).

Observation of graduate TESOL and Applied Linguistics classes.
Interviews/Conversations with full-time professionals (ESL Instructors, Directors, International admissions counsellors, Study abroad counselors, Multicultural programming staff, others professionals by request).

Observation of Tutoring sessions for ESL students in the English Language Learner Support Center.
Following an instructor through the process of preparing, implementing, and assessing a lesson.
Meeting other Graduate students who are pursuing careers in this field.
Discussing academic advising of international students with advisors.
Students participating in this experience may plan for 1 to 3 days. Longer periods may be possible, depending on the range of a student’s interests, and may require further discussion and arrangements.

Experience Range: The role of an Assistant Buyer is to curate, plan and complete events that go “live” on the company website every day. Responsible for some data

departments such as the studio to create new and exciting imagery for
events.
An Extern will have the opportunity to shadow everyday business needs including:
-Attending strategy meetings with an assistant buyer.
-Understand the relationship of merchandising for a large company.
-Participate in 1 on 1 interviewing with host to identify areas of interest in
the field.
-Complete small projects such as trend research as well as analyze the
website and social channels and provide fresh insight.
