Numbers of Interest:
Numbers do not tell us everything. Nor are they the final answer. But we can learn from what we see and what we can measure.
Our prayer is that this box will constantly show a growing church.

WELCOME VISITORS!WELCOME VISITORS!
We are thankful you are with us today as we worship our God and Savior. Our prayer is that you will encounter Him today.
A nursery for small children is available in the east hall off the lobby.
What will you experience at Westview?
Praise through song. It is the tradition of our heritage to sing a cappella (without instruments) as we encourage everyone to be involved in uplifting praise.
We value the Bible. You will hear God’s Word read and all sermons will give the utmost respect and priority to Scripture.
We share the Lord’s Supper every week remembering Christ’s sacrifice that provides us forgiveness as we celebrate our salvation through Him.
We do not expect our guests to give financially to our work. We depend on the generous and godly giving of all Westview members to provide the funds needed to implement God’s plans for this church.
We invite you to stay for Bible classes following our worship time. We hope you have been blessed today!
Only one more week left to gather
school supplies for the kids at the
Transition House and there are still and there are still
names that need to be assigned! names that need to be assigned!
Whitney has the list—please talk
to her to be given a name. It’s a
wonderful opportunity to help
these families and children!
We need all labeled backpacks
with school supplies in the church
office by next Sunday, the 13th.
Thank you!

Led into truth Commentary from a common Terry
One of the most controversial discussions of all things Bible is the Holy Spirit. There is something inher-ently mysterious about one called The Holy Spirit. And, growing up in a King James Bible environment, it was an even more abstract conversation. In the KJV, he’s The Holy Ghost. Now that didn’t really clear things up. 89 times he was The Holy Ghost. I’m not meaning to disrespect the KJV, but I am admitting that the word “ghost” made the teaching of the Spirit a little more challenging to grasp. For all the confusion, arguments, and various teachings, there he is, right in the middle of the Bible story. Over and over. Especially in the New Testament. He is seldom mentioned specifically in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, however, he’s a major character. With a purpose. Before I go any further, I need to make a statement of opinion, but I feel comfortable with it. When you think about it—our opinions are the things we think we are right about. It doesn’t mean we can’t change our mind, but it shows what we believe. So having said that, here’s one of my opinions: we are not required to understand the Holy Spirit before he can move and act effectively in our lives. He’s beyond our understanding. As is God. As is the total nature of Jesus. We were never meant to under-stand, through our own analysis and conclusions, the fullness of God, either in His separate parts or the unity of the Trinity nature of Him—Father, Son, and Spirit. Yet, there he is, not just a sup-porting role, but a starring role in the story of our faith walk. He is our suppli-er and facilitator of spiritual gifts (I Co-rinthians 12). He is proof, through his presence, of God’s faithfulness to us (Ephesians 1:13-14). He is a comforter and helper (John 14:16—depending on what version you read). He teaches us (John 14:26).
But here’s the action / trait of the Holy Spirit that most intrigues us and gives us hope in this world—God’s Holy Spirit leads us. I Corinthians 2:6-10, in summary, assures us that the Spirit reveals to us the hidden wisdom and will of God, He reveals these things to us “through His Spir-it….” (verse 10) There’s one more line in that verse that is extraordinarily exciting for us. The Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. Did you get that? The Spirit promised to us has access to, and knows completely, the depths of God. Just how deep is that? I have no idea. But when we’re told that God is going to guide and lead us through His Spirit, let’s make sure we understand that he (the Holy Spirit) is more than qualified to lead. Let me set the table a bit more about how God leads us through the Spirit. I will not teach that God’s Spirit takes over everything, shows us what’s best, and we really don’t have to do anything in the process. Far from it. He leads by ways we encounter truth and God’s will. Think of it this way. Someone tells you that you need to change the oil in your car every 80 miles. What? Or someone else says that you only need to change your oil every 40,000 miles. What? How do you figger it all out? Well, you listen to reliable resources. You read the manual. You talk to ex-perts in the field. You get input from people you trust whose cars seem to run well. In the same way, God has given us resources the Spirit guides us to and through to help us. More next week.

The leadership asks
you to pray for the
next step in the lead-
ership development
at Westview as they
are recommending
that Jorge Orozco
become an Elder of the church. This is a
significant step in the development of the
Hispanic congregation. Pray for Jorge &
Lourdes as they consider this challenge
and that God will move effectively through
their continued work and service.
A big thank you to everyone who cooked met and provided all kinds
of goodies for our park cookout last week. We had a great turnout and enjoyed the time shared together!
Thank you to my Westview Family for the
beautiful wall plaque in recognition for serving
in the Children's Ministry. It has been the desire
of my heart to serve in this way. I love the chil-
dren and I love teaching. It is a way I learn and
grow in my time with the Lord. The Children's
Ministry is a very vital ministry and requires a lot
of volunteers for teaching, preparing classrooms,
ordering curriculum, etc. I do appreciate all of
those who serve in this Ministry and take on the
many areas of service. Thank you!
