• Develop collaborative undergraduate and graduate programs in bioinformatics

– Modeled on the undergraduate minor program in computational science

– Focus on competencies required for well-prepared students

• Take advantage of OSC computational resources for instruction and research

Issues Impacting Bioscience Cluster

• Significant number of novice users at OSC

• Need for portals to make job submission/retrieval and instruction easier

• Require quick turn-around for classroom demonstration and class use

• Need new mechanisms for faculty to inform OSC about class assignment schedule and computational needs

• Graduate/research users will also require workflow tools and ways to manage a large number of datasets
