BRATISLAVA FACTS
• Located in the heart of Europe, you can visit at least 4 countries within a single day from Bratislava. It is the only capital in the world located near the borders of three countries – Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary, and the closest to another capital – Vienna.
• 11 kings and 7 royal spouses were crowned in St. Martin’s Cathedral, among them was Maria
Theresa in 1741. For almost 300 years, it was the coronation town of the Royal House of Habsburg.
• Bratislava made “name change” a thing right before any celebrity did. In fact, among its many aliases were: Pressburg, Pozsony and Prešporok.
• As capital of the Kingdom of Hungary from 1536 to 1783, Bratislava’s compact historical center packs a real punch – complete with a castle, churches, narrow cobblestoned streets, and beautiful mansions reflecting its royal past. It was (and still is) a cultural center that
attracted the likes of Mozart and Beethoven.
• Love it or hate it, Petržalka remains a notable legacy of the Communist era. It is Central Europe’s largest neighborhood of housing estates.
• Considering its modest population of half a million, you might be surprised to find out that Bratislava consistently ranks as one of the richest regions of the European Union by GDP per capita. It was ranked as the 6th wealthiest last year, reinforcing its status as the most economically prosperous region in Slovakia.
The exclusive space of design factory is the result of a sophisticated conversion of an old factory hall. The industrial spirit of the building was revived just recently and already received couple of prestigious awards for architecture & design.
