According to research, banana has been found in Papua Nugini

for more than 10,000 years ago.

The consumption of banana in Indonesia 5kg/year/person

-The roots for medicine purpose

-The stem for making raft, etc.

Use of Banana1. Source of energy:

sugar contain in banana will provide energy for body shape and muscle

2. Pregnant women:

Contain of high folic acid which is good for fetus for development of cell.

Two bananas provide enough folic acid (58 microgram).

Banana has glucose that can reduce morning sick.

3. For anemia:

Banana contain of iron which helps to stimulate the production of hemoglobin

4. Gastric acid stomach:

Banana help to neutralized the stomach acid and coating the stomach

5. Liver disease:

Banana help to boost appetite (2 banana with 1 spoon of honey)

Hypertension According to www.healthstats.com, approximately one billion peoplehave high blood pressure. Threeout of tenpeople suffer from hypertension in Indonesia. Hypertension patients usually consume diuretic, beta-blocker, calcium channel blockerwith chemical side effect.

Low Sodium Levels

• Pisang raja has low sodium level

• Sodium level plays an important role on the incidence of hypertension

• Sodium and chloride are the main ions in extracellular fluid

• Too much sodium sodium’s concentration in extracellular fluid increasing

• To normalize it, the intracellular fluid is pulled out

so that the extracellular fluid volume increased

• The volume of blood is increased

• Sodium in our body come from food or

beverages, and excreted through urine and

sweat

• Normal kidneys can regulate sodium that has

been excreted in urine, so the total amount of

sodium in our body is slightly varied from day

to day.

• The changes in the total amount of sodium is

related to the changes in the total amount of fluid

in body

• Loss of sodium in body does not mean the

sodium concentration in blood is decreased

• It causes the decrease in blood volume

• If the blood volume is decreased, the blood

pressure will also decrease

• Otherwise, blood volume will increase if there is

too much sodium in the body, thus blood

pressure will increase

• Since pisang raja has low levels of

sodium, pisang raja can be consumed by

hypertensive patients to lower the blood

pressure

Potassium

• Potassium is the main ions in intracellular fluid

• Consuming potassium too much will increase its

concentration in intracellular fluid, thus it tends to

draw the fluid from extracellular and lower the

blood pressure

• Unlike sodium, potassium enlarge the diameter

of blood vessels blood pressure will decrease

• One example of good main sources: pisang raja

• Pisang raja has high level of potassium but low

level of sodium

• By eating pisang raja regularly, we could

compensate sodium consumption from food

intake

• The inverse ratio of sodium and potassium may

be very helpful to stabilize the blood pressure
