The company executed sale transactions for 40 aircraft, includ-ing 7 Airbus A319-100s, 4 Airbus A320-200s, 2 Airbus A321-100s, 3 Airbus A321-200s, 4 Air-bus A330-200s, 1 Airbus A340-600, 10 Boeing 737NGs, 1 Boeing 757-200 and 4 Boeing 777-200ERs from AerCap’s owned portfolio, and 2 Airbus A320-200s, 1 Airbus A321-200 and 1 Air-bus A330-300 from AerCap’s managed portfolio. The company exercised options to purchase 10 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft with deliveries in 2021 and signed financing transactions for US$0.8bn in the third quarter 2016.

AIRCRAFT & ENGINE NEWS Orders and deliveries – Boeing and Airbus

Airbus’ new business logged in September for 49 of its single-aisle and widebody jetliners included bookings that brought total orders for the A320neo (new engine option) Family to more than 4,800, while the month’s 62 deliveries reflected the continued ramp-up in Airbus aircraft production.

Boeing recorded 55 orders all for the 737 family and deliveries totaled 72 aircraft from the entire production line.

their total order for the aircraft to eighteen. The new aircraft will contribute to the fleet renewal process that the airline commenced two years ago with the purchase of the first six ATR 72-600s.

Also, addressing journalists at ERA in Madrid, Embraer forecasts a market demand of 1,540 new aircraft in the 70 to 130-seat jet seg-ment (valued at $80 billion at list price) in Europe and the CIS over the next 20 years.

Embraer, reinforces the importance of jets in the 70- to 130-seat seg-ment to feed international flights. Hub efficiency is critically important and 70- to 130-seat jet aircraft play a key role feeding those hubs. The segment provides global and intra-region connectivity with ideal ca-pacity to support regular frequencies at Europe’s key hubs.

“Smaller jets fly around 40% of the total traffic to or from Paris CDG, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Munich. Connecting traffic, which now represents 65% of total passengers flying an E-Jet aircraft, will largely remain the core business of the major international carriers

in Europe,” said Arjan Meijer, Vice President, Europe & Middle East, Embraer Commercial Aviation.

Cessna Citation Longitude takes to the skies

Cessna Aircraft Company has announced the suc-cessful first flight of its Citation Longitude super-midsize jet. The flight comes less than a year after the company unveiled new details for the revolu-tionary aircraft – the company’s latest example of continued investment in its family of larger busi-ness jets. The Longitude took off from the compa-ny’s east campus Beech Field Airport, piloted by experimental test pilots Ed Wenninger and Stuart Rogerson. During the 122-minute flight, the team tested the aircraft’s flaps, landing gear, pressuriza-tion systems, stability and control. The prototype aircraft will continue to expand the performance envelope, focusing on testing flight controls and aerodynamics, while the first production model, set to fly in the coming weeks, will be primarily used for systems’ testing.

Airbus Helicopters launches flight-test cam-paign of H175 in public services configuration

Airbus Helicopters has kicked-off the flight test campaign of the public services variant of the H175 medium twin-engine helicopter. An initial flight-test campaign was successfully concluded after 12 flights. This included a demonstration carried out last week with customer Hong Kong’s Government Flying Service (GFS), who became launch customer for this new variant in September 2015 with an order for seven units. Flight-test activity of the public ser-vices variant will resume in December, with two ad-ditional aircraft to support the certification process ahead of a planned entry into service in late 2017. One of the benefits of the public services variant is its inherent swing-role capabilities, enabling speedy and seamless re-configuration based on mission requirements. The wide range of missions that can be performed include SAR operations, emergency medical services, firefighting, law enforcement and land/maritime border security patrols.

LOT Polish Airlines to lease six new Boe-ing 737 MAX 8 aircraft from Air Lease Corporation

All eleven aircraft are from ALC’s order book with Boeing. Delivery of the first two firmly contracted aircraft will begin in the fourth quarter of 2017, the next two in 2018, one in 2019, and the sixth aircraft will deliver in or before the first quarter of 2020. The optioned aircraft are expected to deliver in 2019 and 2020.

Embraer projects market demand of 1,540 new jets in 70- to 130-seats segment for Eu-rope and the CIS

Embraer forecasts a market demand of 1,540 new aircraft in the 70- to 130-seat jet segment (valued at US$80bn at list price) in Europe and the CIS over the next 20 years. Currently there are 29 airlines operating Embraer jets in both regions. According to International Air Transport Association (IATA), European carriers’ total traffic increased by 3.5%, while load factor climbed to 81.9% in the first eight months of 2016. Air transport demand growth continues to face a number of headwinds, includ-ing terrorist attacks and political instability in parts of the region. However, the capacity/demand bal-ance has been sustained by keen price competition. Yields have been decreasing 2% p.a. for the past five years. Despite the region’s wealth, high propensity

Traditional Full Service Carriers restructured in order to improve efficiency, reduce costs and secure profitability. The focus on long-haul business passengers is now close to absolute. This, in turn, reinforces the importance of jets in the 70- to 130-seat segment to feed international flights. Binter firms up order for 6 ATR 72-600s

Spanish carrier Binter, a long-standing ATR operator in Europe, has signed an agreement to buy six additional ATR 72-600s, taking its total order for the aircraft to eighteen. The aircraft will serve Binter’s Canary Islands network. The new aircraft will contribute to the fleet renewal process that the airline commenced two years ago with the purchase of the first six ATR 72-600s. Recommended EventsWithout this base effect, passenger traffic would have remained virtually level year-on-year. Cargo throughput (airfreight + airmail) at FRA was posi-tively impacted by the slight recovery of the global economy, resulting in a gain of 5.9% in Septem-ber 2016. Despite the rise in passenger and cargo volumes, aircraft movements shrank by 0.6% to 41,973 takeoffs and landings. Adjusted for the base effect (pilot strike in September 2015), aircraft movements saw an underlying decline of 2.3% in September 2016. Accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) expanded by 1.8% to almost 2.7 million metric tons, thus also posting a new Sep-tember record.
