Congratulations to the following students who received merit awards at Monday’s assembly: Cameron Tevaga, Charles Turnbull, Hamish Rattray, Jarrod Kilmore, Ava Walton, Miley Turner, Jessica McDouall, Chase Martin and Lucas Turner. Stage 2 and 3 Camps Stage 3 students have been enjoying a great week of activities at Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation Centre at Lennox Head. The students have been involved in canoeing, damper making, high ropes, bike riding, snorkeling and other activities. Mrs Craddock has passed on how impressed the camp instructors are with our Bingara students’ behaviour and with their willingness to have a go. We are very proud of them and not surprised. Stage 2, Mrs Mead and Mrs Wall left this morning for their overnight excursion to Thalgarrah Environmental Education Centre near Armidale. The students were very excited about the camp and we look forward to hearing about their adventures. Infants Sports Day The students from Kinder, Year 1 and 2 had an enjoyable fun day of sport today. The Bingara pre-school joined us for the afternoon. Chamber Music in Schools We have a trio of musicians from the New England Conservatorium of Music visiting the school for a performance on Friday, 14 September. The cost is $4 per student. Students were given notes today with more information in regards to the performance. If you would like your child to attend, please return the correct money to the front office in the envelope provided. Gwydir Band The members of the Gwydir band will be joining Chatswood High band for music workshops during the last week of this term. This has been a wonderful experience for our band students in past years. All students from K-6 will be going to the Roxy on Thursday, 27 September to watch the combined bands perform. Big Bad Wolf This performance will be at the Roxy Theatre on 17 October. More information will be sent home over the coming weeks.

Sport: PSSA State Rugby Union Championship Congratulations to Brandon Tevaga who is in Coffs Harbour this week playing for the North West Region at the State Rugby Carnival. This is a huge achievement and we are very proud of him. North West Athletics The Regional athletics carnival will be held in Tamworth on Friday, 21 September. Students who qualified received a note last week and permission notes need to be returned to the school office by tomorrow, 31 August. BAND MEETING

THURSDAY, 6 SEPTEMBER

5PM

The Band Support Committee supports all students at Bingara Central School who would like to learn an instrument. We are a fundraising committee to help with the cost of music, instrument repairs, and new resources. Without parent support, these cannot happen. We have a fundraising opportunity at the end of term but without a meeting to organise parent help it will not happen. This means that the children will go without new stands, new instruments and new music. I’d like to thank the parents who help out regularly with bus driving and behind the scenes at concerts. Every little bit helps and it’s really appreciated. Emma Smith
