Bimetal Thermometers Bimetal thermometers use two metals with different temperature expansion coefficients wound in a helical shape and indicate the temperature by transmitting the deflection of the metal by temperature change to a pointer. ・Error due to ambient temperature is smaller than that of the filled type. ・Since there is no filled liquid, it is safe. (No pollution) ・Construction is simple and it is cheap. Select the temperature range so that the thermometer is always within the 30 to 60% range of the scale span, when selecting the thermometer. 2.Shape in the thermometer temperature sensor

・Standard specification

Since it is fastened to the mounting screw by tightening a set screw, the position of the temperature sensor does not change.

Maximum allowable working pressure of union type is   Under 200℃ → 2MPa   200℃ or over → 1MPa (When the above is over, a well is necessary.)

Construction tightens the gasket with a set screw and the temperature sensor can be fastened at an arbitrary position.

・When the position of the measurement fluid in a tank, etc. changes and the position of the temperature sensor must be adjusted ・When a well is installed and when you want to insert the temperature sensor down to the bottom

3.Temperature sensor minimum insertion dimension    ・The minimum insertion dimension is determined by the type, temperature     range, and temperature sensor diameter.     If the temperature sensor is not completely inserted into the measurement     liquid up to this dimension, since performance cannot be secured, select     the best dimension above this minimum insertion dimension.

4.Required conditions of a well (Thermowell)    (1) When there is the danger that the measured fluid may corrode the temperature sensor, a well made of material suitable for the measurement fluid is necessary.    (2) When high pressure is applied to the temperature sensor, a well suitable for the working pressure is necessary.    (3) When the measurement fluid flows, a well suitable for the flow rate is necessary.    (4) When the measurement fluid leaks when the thermometer is removed, the use of a well is convenient at maintenance.    (5) Necessary when the filled liquid of the thermometer body should leak and when the measurement liquid may be contaminated.

1.Temperature range (Scale range)    ・Select the scale range so that the temperature range is always within the 30 to 60% range of the scale span.    ・The thermometer starts temperature measurement from the time of manufacture and the instrument itself is     active even when not in use.    ・When a temperature above the scale range is applied to the thermometer, there is the danger that the     thermometer may be damaged.     For example, when there is the danger that the thermometer may cross the equator or through a cold region     during shipment and the temperature range may be exceeded, caution is necessary.
