My Training and Experience

Hi my name is Billie Quiring,

Thank you for considering Billie’s Busy Kid’s Child Care to meet your child care needs. After 4 years as an in home child care provider we are busting at the seams and ready to bring high quality child care and preschool to Granite Falls. I bring to you over 18 years of experience working with children and families in and around Snohomish County. I am a long time resident of Granite Falls since 2000, and excited to be building my business in the town that I call home.

Several of my years are experience have been working in a preschool environment that specializes in Early Intervention, for children that are typically developing, and well as children with special needs, and behavior issues. I pride myself in being an observer in children’s lives to create environments that are conducive to that child’s learning.

Three of my years were also spent working with adaptations to environments and toys to ensure all children of all abilities can interact within the environment, for the Snohomish County Lending Library also called TEC4Tots.

The rest of my experience has been a miss mash of Lead Teacher in multiple classrooms enriching the lives of many children. Prior to working at Microsoft in 2009 I spent a few months as the interim director for Sherwood Learning Center. My passions in Early Learning are open ended art activities, dramatic play, music and movement as well as circle time…ok I love it all!

I have worked collaboratively with such programs as The Father's Network, Little Red School House, Grandparent Support Group, Visiting Nurses of Snohomish County, Child Care Recourse and Referral, Play Groups for EXCEL!, Therapeutic Child Care, at Sherwood Community Services. I have also collaborated as well as facilitated trainings around SI and other OT/PT issues, Speech & Language Delay, early learning environments as well as trainings for providers in and around Snohomish County.

Thank you again for taking the time to read a little bit about me, I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you and your family.

Best – Billie Wesson

Billie’s Busy Kid’s Philosophy

At Billie’s Busy Kids Child Care and Preschool my commitment to each child is to create a fun and safe learning environment that allows your child to nurture and explore at their own unique level of development. My goal is that every child will develop to their fullest potential in all aspects of development, growth, and meet their own unique needs and goals.

I believe that children are constantly learning through play. It is our job to create an age appropriate and stimulating environment for each child to keep learning, and growing, at all levels of growth and development.“You call it learning we call it fun!”

I will always make every attempt to work directly with you as your child's first teacher to offer parenting support and communicate your child's development. I also do this in the monthly newsletters and other supportive material. If you should ever have any questions please do not hesitate to speak with me. - Billie Quiring

The witnessing individual will make the call, with the assistance of the provider if needed. The provider will contact the licensor immediately after a report of abuse is made. If there is an immediate danger to a child, a report is made to local law enforcement. Signs of child abuse or neglect are recorded and kept in each child’s file. (WAC 170-296A-2300 and -6275)

Behavior Management and DisciplineSpanking or any form of corporal punishment, physical or mechanical restraint, the withholding of food, or any form of emotional abuse is prohibited by anyone on the premises, including parents. This includes biting, jerking, shaking, slapping, spanking, hitting, kicking, or any other means of inflecting physical pain. To manage behavior, we at Billie’s Busy Kids will first be sure the children know my expectations. We at Billie’s Busy Kids believe in Positive discipline and in redirection and looking to avoid behaviors before they happen. Young children need time and guidance to develop self-esteem and self-control. If a child is about to hurt himself, someone else, or be destructive, we will intervene and explain why this is not acceptable. We may also use redirection by taking him/her to another activity.. If time out is needed, my standard is no more than 1 minute for each year of age. A child requires time and patience to develop a positive attitude in a group setting. We may also ask parents for assistance in reinforcing positive attitudes. Most behaviors can be corrected quickly while others take 30 to 60 days to see progress. If a child who is having a known behavior issue this is the protocol: we will first and foremost do some observations.. After doing several observations of the child, we will schedule a one to

10

Page 11: Billie's Busy Kids Child Care and Preschool, LLC Parent Handbook (revised 11-13-13)

one visit with you so we can have a few minutes alone to discuss an action plan. This will be quick and easy and mostly to see what is going on in the child’s life to make this environment more comfortable for them. This action plan would be in place for 30 days. At the end of the 30 days if we are still having issues we and the parents are being proactive we can make a second agreement for 30 days provide some outside resources for assistance in ruling out other factors that might be contributing to the behaviors. We at Billie’s Buys Kids hope to NEVER remove a child from care unless necessary. If your child is placed on an action plan and there is lack of involvement from the parent and this is just not the place for your child then at this time we would explore termination of placement. We want to specify that this would be after all resources and help had been offered then we would need to find alternative care you and your child.

Non-Discrimination Statement: We at Billie’s Busy Kids do not discriminate in enrollment and hiring practices or in the care of children because of race, color, creed, ethnicity, national origin, gender, marital status, veteran’s status, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, religion, differing physical or mental abilities, use of a trained dog or service animal by a disabled person, communication and learning styles.

Religious Activities: No religious doctrine is taught or expected of the children in this program. We respect all religions.
