Spanish vineyards produce many great wines, but the grapes of the northern La Rioja regionare the basis of truly exceptional wines. Here,1,200 vineyards produce 278 million liters ofwine each year. Three white-wine grapes aregrown here: Viura, Malvasia de Rioja andGarnacha Blanca. But the most noted winesare made from red grapes: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano.
