A HISTORY OF EXCELLENCE

Founded in 1986 as PT Hamplas Barutama with Technological

Assistance from Norton Abrasive, USA, inaugurated by then, the

President of The Republic of Indonesia Mr. HM Soeharto.

The First and only coated abrasive Manufacturing Company in

Indonesia with over 25 years of experience.

The only coated abrasive Company with vertically integrated

manufacturing plant with CFL (Cloth Finishing Line) under

technological assistance from Norton Abrasive, USA.

The biggest coated abrasive Manufacturing Company with

production capacity over 2.6 million square meter for Coated

Abrasives products and 1.6 million square meter for Finished Cloth

products per annum.

Corporate Milestones

1991 – The establishment of PT Saint-Gobain Norton Hamplas, a

Joint Venture company between Saint Gobain Abrasifs &

Indonesian partners.

1993 – The Company starts to export to Australia and South East

1993 – The Company starts to export to Australia and South East

Asian countries (Malaysia, Thailand & Vietnam and Singapore)

under the NORTON brand.

1997 – The Company starts to export to China. At the same time

the Company also export Finished Cloth products to Australia, India

and European countries. The Company’s export ratio reaches 60%

of total production volume.

2007 – The acquisition of Saint-Gobain Abrasifs shareholding in

the company, subsequently renamed the company as PT Daya

Satya Abrasives, a wholly owned subsidiary of PT Daya Satya

2012 – The Company launches the Fortis brand to strengthen its

foray into becoming a regional leader in South East Asia

The Company operates its own vertically

integrated manufacturing facility with precision

engineering from Peter Scwabe GmbH of Germanyengineering from Peter Scwabe GmbH of Germany

The other competitors are importers where they source Jumbo

rolls from countries such as China & Korea, and some European

countries.

The Manufacturing Facility has vertical integrated setup from the

production of Backing thru Cloth Finishing Line to Making & Sizing

thru Maker Line & Converting Line. A direct advantage over quality

consistency, faster turnaround time and cost effectiveness.
