We live in a world where art in all its expressions isincreasing in significance and influence. Music, songs, movies, drama, dance and the visual arts are

playing powerful roles in our communication. People see God the wayHe is presented. Too often the church has presented God as boring, pale and lifeless! The God of creation is joyful, colourful, awesome! Our School is dedicated to developing our students and their talents totheir maximum potential so the unchurched will "taste and see thatthe Lord is good", so that God’s people will bring sensational worshipto Him with excellence and glory. We will see a revival of the presenceof God in the arts! I pray you will find your way to train in our School of Creative Arts. We want you to be the best for Him!

How will you leave a lasting impression on the world for thesake of the gospel?

Twenty five years ago, church leaders declared that "rock music was ofthe devil". Today the church is hungry for contemporary music inworship! Tomorrow the church will lead the world in all types ofcontemporary art forms. The best of the best performers and creativeartists will be the sons and daughters of the Most High God. The church will be filled to overflowing with the very best creativecommunication - the best theatre, the best dance, the best music, thebest songs, and the best paintings. What is inside the church will burstoutside and beyond its walls, to reach out and transform a broken world! Art is spiritual - when an anointed, excellent artist performs or creates, the audience feels an impact that goes beyond just the mind or theemotions. Even artists who are far from God still credit the spiritualdimension in their work. So when an artist with skill is filled with thepresence of the Living God, the result is miraculously powerful. Some will be tempted to say that you should get a real job, like a doctor, ateacher, a journalist or an engineer - not realising that the work of God'sanointed artists is EXACTLY to heal, to teach, to bring good news and toinvent. They will then be tempted to say that the risk is high that you will notbe a successful artist. In financial terms this may be so - although we livetoday surrounded by more music, more theatre, more dance, more art andmore creative communication than ever before in history. Arguably the"entertainment industry" is one of the world’s biggest industries. However - how do you measure success? Is it in terms of riches or is it interms of lives that have been redeemed and transformed for the sake of theKingdom of Heaven? Let us take the high ground. Dream bigger - see further.

Influential art is produced by influential artists. Our focus is therefore on building you, the creative artist. This involves going beyond your artistic skill to develop you in all four dimensionsof the influential artist....

THE ARTIST WHO CAN COMMUNICATE

THE1STDIMENSION ARTISTIC SKILL >

The world is changing faster than ever before and God is the ultimate Creator. He is always doing a new thing. To communicate Him effectively to this generation, weneed to move with Him and express the new thing…

We believe in artistic excellence. Art is thelanguage that expresses the artist’s message –let us not slur our words...

THE ARTIST AT THE LEADING EDGE

THE2NDDIMENSION CREATIVITY >

Creative language falls to the floor without a message. "Where there is no vision, the people perish" (Proverbs 29:18a).Purpose gives you a message, a reason to stand up. Character keeps you standing...

THE ARTIST WHO WILL STAND

THE3RDDIMENSION PURPOSE & CHARACTER >

This is the place of wisdom beyond your years, skill anddiscernment beyond your understanding, impact beyondthe physical and the intellectual. It is the Holy Spirit’sbreath of life in your art.

THE ARTIST WHO BRINGS LIFE

It has been a fantasticexperience to do College with otherChristians who allow their passion for God to fuel their creativity.” Becca PikeCotswold Christian CentreCheltenham, United Kingdom

“I came to visit SCA on my vacation – I wasn’t even planning for more schooling! (I have a BA in Music Education) but I wasso impressed with the values here and thepractical, real-life approach to combininglife and ministry that I knew I needed tospend more time around these people.Over the months of my schooling here Ihave had even more reason to beimpressed by the level of professionalism.”Jennie ColelloNorthview Community Church,Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada

Imagine going into an art gallery and seeing thousandsof pictures, sculptures, structures and installationsusing different mediums, shapes, sizes and colours.Work of such amazing beauty and emotion that it can’thelp but stir up various reactions in you. And thenimagine a vandal comes one night and sprays paintover some, slashes others, sets fire to some and eventakes an axe to a couple of installations. The work ofrestoration is difficult but so worth it. Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are God’s work of art.John 10:10 tells us how Satan comes only to steal, killand destroy. At SCA we aim to see each person, eachsinger, nurtured and connected. In a safe andstimulating environment you will be challenged andstretched and set free to be all God intended you to be.You will gain practical skills and anointing in anatmosphere where God is honoured, unity cultivated, and excellence prized. “…I was walking down a white corridor carrying twotired, brown leather bags. It felt like I’d been holding

them since my life began. I could feel all the musclesin my shoulders stretching as my knuckles

approached the floor. I kept walking. It was cold andthere were no doors. With every step the walls

narrowed further. I kept walking. At the end was a single door marked “EXIT”, just wide

enough to slide through sideways. My bags felt soheavy that it would have been easier to let go. It was

impossible to open the door without putting a bagdown, so I kicked the door in. My baggage

overbalanced me and I fell through the door. As I fellmy bags jammed in the door frame, I had to let go...”

Drama, perhaps more than any other communicativemedia, has the ability to capture a moment of life, entrance a viewer, and sneak in the back door of theintellect to suggest new ideas, stimulate thought, moveemotions and motivate action.Since 1979, Brian Deacon’s portrayal of Jesus in the"Jesus" film* has inspired nearly 200 million people toinitiate decisions to accept Christ as their personalSaviour and Lord. In our own church over the last 7years, Neil Modra’s portrayal of Jesus in our Easterproduction, "Jesus the Rock " has led over 700 people togive their lives to the Lord. With audiences totallingalmost 25,000, many, many more people have found adeeper revelation and more intimate relationship withJesus through “Jesus the Rock”.At SCA, acting is taught from a "high ground" perspective.Jesus is the character our life is to portray, and from thathigh ground we venture to put on the masks of othercharacters, practicing the ability to act, then take off themasks and remain on the high ground. The emphasis is on voice, movement andcharacterisation, improvisation and text analysis from ahigh level of both secular and biblical teaching. Theseskills are then practiced in class. Students will also gainpractical experience on both stage and film.We encourage the Acting students to participate in asmuch performance work as possible during their time atSCA. This will mean anything from a class production torunning performances in the church, youth groups, andlocal high schools. Our vision is to develop further the gifts God hasbestowed upon our students and to develop theirpotential so that they can serve God through the CreativeArts in a more profound and meaningful way. Theprogramme is designed to equip students for thedisciplines of the acting profession in a variety ofperformance contexts.
