If you do not possess a military issued ID Card like active duty, reserve, or National

Guard members, bring your proof of veterans status, such as a copy of your DD Form214, VA ID Card, discharge certificate, letter from the VA, or other documents that

identify you as a veteran if challenged by the many establishments offering benefits.

Greater Dayton Chapter Celebrates 30th Anniversary in BIG

11-9-11

The Greater Dayton Chapter celebrated 30 years of existence as a member of Blacks in

Government (BIG) on October 29 at the Hilton Garden Inn. The guest speaker was Mr. J. DavidReeves, the National President of BIG and a member of the Senior Executive Service. Mr.

Reeves currently serves as the Senior Advisor for Department Operations and Coordinator under

the Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Mr. Reeves’ message focused on the

invisible people; these individuals behind the scenes that are directly responsible for the successof an organization and who have made significant contributions to BIG that has enabled us to be

able to celebrate 30 years of service to others and their community. The event was attended by

the Chair of the National Board of Directors of BIG, Mr. David A. Groves, and National Board

members Mr. Terrence Williams, the current Greater Dayton Chapter President and Ms. Felicia

Shingler, National Secretary of BIG. Also in attendance at the event were Dayton’s Mayor , Mr.Gary D. Leitzell and Beavercreek vice Mayor Mr. Brian Jarvis….. More

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)

Future Leaders Program (FLP 10-29-11

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) is now recruiting high caliber recentcollege graduates to apply for the Future Leaders Program (FLP) Class of 2012. Only here at the

NNSA can you find challenging work assignments and practical experiences that help support

national security.

The NNSA has entry level opportunities that will help students transition from the classroom tothe workforce. The FLP is a structured two-year entry-level developmental program used as a

succession planning tool to generate talent pipelines to fill mission critical positions. Through anaggressive internal training program, a variety of development activities, on the job training, and

a state of the art dual mentoring program, participants develop their leadership and technical

competencies to successfully execute NNSA’s nuclear security mission.

The selection process for Future Leaders is extremely competitive. Candidates are carefully

selected for specific mission critical positions by NNSA hiring managers throughout the

complex.

Program requirements and the positions we are currently recruiting for are summarized below.

The FLP vacancy announcement is now open, and will close on November 13, 2011.

The Qualifications for FLP are:

  U.S. citizenship at time of application;

  Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the “Q” level and pass pre-

employment and random drug testing while employed;

  A bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline; 

  Graduation from an accredited university within the past two years;

  A 3.0 GPA or higher (candidates with at least a 2.8 cumulative GPA who have shown

leadership qualities though excellence in extracurricular activities or work experiencemay also be considered);

  Ability to perform challenging assignments nation-wide for two years; and

· A requirement to commit to the Federal Government for a minimum of 24 months after

successful graduation from the program.
