activities for the students to participate in.
Here are the spirit day themes:

Our amazing PTA is working really hard to make this year's Dollar Dash a huge success for
our school! Parents please support this fun event as it is our primary fundraiser for the
year!!
The BIG event is September 18th:
K 7:45 - 8:40
1 8:40 - 9:35
2 9:45 - 10:40
3 10:40 -11:35
4 12:25 - 1:20
5 1:20 - 2:15
The students will have an obstacle course event day, filled with music and athletic
challenges! Please send in your cash and check donations in the yellow envelope
sent home with your child, or you can donate online at: www.thegetmovincrew.com.
Should parents like to Volunteer for the day or a shift please contact Tagrid
Marsden at [email protected] to be placed on a Volunteer list!
On the day of the event, parents will check in at the front office, head to the back
where the event is, and look for the Volunteer tent. We also need parents to send
in popsicles and bananas for each class, please coordinate this through your room
mom. Popsicles can be dropped off beginning Monday, September 15th to Mrs.
Jewell in the cafeteria between 7:40am-10:20am. Bananas should be sent in to the
homeroom teacher on the day of Dollar Dash. Please label all donations with the
homeroom teacher name and grade.

Thank you all so much for all the box tops that have been sent in! Also, please make sure your child's teacher's name is on the baggie when turning them in. Otherwise
your class will not get credit. I had a baggie with two additional baggies in it
turned in last week with no name! If these were yours please contact me,
At this time we already have over 1,700 box tops! Remember they can be sent in at any time with the final count being done in
October.
Ms. Bass's class leads the pack at over 500!

FAMILY NIGHT – 5TH
We are so excited to have
working with us this year. We will be holding the shop
during school hours on Dec.3rd, 4th, and 5th with a family
night on the 4th. Santa and his elves will be at the family
night again this year. We will be in need of many
awesome volunteers to make this a successful event. More

talent! This is a great school event! Awards will be given to winning entries in each grade level. The contest is very easy

If you do not have access to a printer, please stop by the front office for an entry form. All entries are due on or before
October 10, 2014. Entries dropped off prior to October 10th can be placed in the Reflections bin located in the front office hall

purchased any of this year’s spirit wear get
yours before everything is gone! Dollar Dash
is next week and would be a great time to
show your school spirit. If you would like to
order, simply print the order form below and
send it in to your homeroom teacher with
cash or check and PTA will fill your order.
There will be a PTA member selling Spirit
wear outside the front office Wednesday
morning! We still have some Adult sizes as
well. If you are wanting to show your school

PTA Spirit wear Order Form
Robin Tomes:
Robin has her BS and Masters in Early Childhood Education
from The University of Georgia. She is also gifted endorsed.
Robin has been a 3rd grade and kindergarten teacher at JJ
Harris Elementary Charter School in Athens. She has also
been a Camp Counselor and an Afterschool Program
Teacher for K-5 students. Robin’s previous principal
describes her as creative and innovative, rigorous, and
data-driven. She is a hard worker! Robin was a leader at
JJ Harris and served on the School Improvement Team,
Leadership Team, and lead school-wide professional
development during faculty meetings. Robin will be greatly
missed at her old school, and we feel so lucky to have her
at Big Creek!
Claire Barsky:
Claire is joining us as a first year teacher from The University
of Georgia where she got her BS in early childhood and
elementary education. She did her student teaching in 3rd
grade at Judia Jackson Harris Elementary School. She
maintained a 4.0 GPA while being very active in her sorority
leadership and participating in community service. Her work
as a summer camp counselor and substitute teacher Helped
her navigate the energy and excitement of the first few
WEEKS of school!
