A letter I never sent. So where am I going with this? Stay with me. I was in a discussion with a few friends this week about forgiveness. One friend made the comment that she feels some people do not deserve forgiveness. She is working on it but it is hard. I agree with the hard part. When words cut to the quick of my heart. When I am betrayed by someone who I trusted. When someone messes with one of my kids or grandkids. My feathers become more like porcupine quills and it's not pretty when they are ruffled. My first thought is to fight back with words. Then I want to get even. A hurt for a hurt. They deserve my words colored with anger. They deserve to hurt like I hurt. Ok, if I am being totally honest I want them to hurt more than me. For days I carry on the conversation that I want to have over and over in my mind. I lay awake at night rehearsing the conversation. I'll say this, if they say that. I'll get a few verbal blows in before they can respond. There I times that I get to have that hard conversation and hope for the best. There are also times that I never get to have the conversation where I can speak my mind. Whether I have the conversation or not I have a decision to make. Let it go and forgive and find peace or continue to wrestle with the anger and war in my mind and heart. If I forgive, I win. If I don't forgive, they win. It took awhile to learn. I have learned a few more things. Lead me into forgiveness As part of October’s First Friday Fall Festival events, Noblesville Main Street presented 2015 CanStruction, a unique contest exhibiting and showcasing colossal structures made entirely out of full cans and boxes of food. The structures were designed and built by teams of architects, contractors, designers, service organizations and clubs. The exhibitions are on display to the public through next week, when all food used for the competition will be delivered to the Noblesville Trustees Office for distribution to local food pantries. Through this single project, Noblesville Main Street has donated thousands of non-perishable food items to Hamilton county food pantries. Competing in this year’s competition is RZ Automation KRM Architecture, Myer Najem and Noblesville Noon Kiwanis Club. CanStruction exhibits can be viewed at the following local Noblesville businesses: Lil Bloomers, Kiln Creations, Church Church Hittle and Antrim. My anger only hurts me not them Yesif given the opportunity I can voice mythoughts but I have learned for the mostpart to remain calm I dont have to raise myvoice to get my point across Funny howpeople listen more when you keep yourvoice calm It sometimes angers them whenI keep so calm (Insert smile)

I have found that some people love agood argument Remember it takes two toargue The louder you are the less anyonehears you

What do I do with people who havetrespassed against me or worse my family

What if they are wrong and I know thatthey know that they are wrong yet they neverapologize

What if they say they are sorry but I feelthey are not sorry enough

I have drank the poison ofunforgiveness It is bitter I have carried theexhaustive weight of conversations I neverhad

Then I learned to forgive It took a whileI sometimes would think I forgave someoneand then I picked up the remnants of angerand ran with them again Each time I laidthem down it was easier Forgiveness is adecision and the doing so takes time

I have actually written letters and thentorn them into shreds never sending themI said what I needed to say but they would

never read the words They didnt have toread them Those words were the chains thatheld me hostage to them Forgivenessdoesnt have to be deserved It is the freedomto not be bound by the feelings we haveattached to person who has wronged us Itsnot about them its about us

Forgiveness is a gift we give ourselvesIt does not have to be deserved to be givenChances are that we will never get anapology but that is not about us It is aboutthem

So if you are harboring anger towardssomeone what are you going to do Writea letter but dont mail it Write an email butdont send it Shred the letter or the emailAnd be done DONE

Remember angry feelings create wordsthat chain you to the person who did youwrong Dont waste precious time being heldhostage to that person You have to makethe decision to forgive Forgiveness does notlessen the fact that they did you wrongFORGIVENESS DOES NOT RIGHT THEWRONG It lessens their control over youThen you can walk away leaving thembehind to deal with what they did

One morning you will wake up andrealize that what they did does not defineyour day or your life anymore And that myfriends makes for a beautiful day and apeaceful life

Dear ReaderSome of the most preventable fires in the world involve smoking Even worse

according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) it is one of the leadingcauses of civilian home fire deaths Of those deaths 25 percent of the victims were noteven the ones smoking

Urbanism is trending as the new style of living Of the many positive attributes to thisliving multi-family dwellings can have some negatives One negative is the increasedrisk of fires affecting multiple units in an apartment Often the cause of these fires issmoking related

While there are many factors that may affect the start of a fire alcohol medicationsand lack of sleep are often contributing When smoking materials are dropped intofurniture improperly extinguished or purposely disposed onto the ground fires mayhappen and their devastation can affect more than just the one who dropped the cigarette

Firefighters recommend smoking outside using sand or water to extinguish the buttsand assuring all material is fully extinguished prior to placing in garbage receptaclesespecially when they are located indoors or next to buildings

These fires are not limited to multi-family homes They happen every day in singlefamily residences as well Butts are often tossed into flower beds covered in mulch wherethey smolder for hours until the fire is discovered late into the night running up the sideof the house

This is easily a preventable fire First donrsquot smoke But if you do use common senseFires caused by smoking are a selfish and reckless act Use common sense and safety asa match next time you want to light up

That was one of the best saves Ive everseen said Brady I wouldve thought it wassome sort of stop-action footage if I wasntwatching it live

News2

I sure wish that I could insert ldquoSharonMcMahonrdquo in theldquoUnknownrdquo line ofthis quote but alas Icannot do so althoughI firmly believe thisquote to be true Andthis week I willendeavor to tackle aldquoweightyrdquo issuewithout going downany political avenuesndash difficult to do given

the interest posed by our current candidatesand the press I will admit that thecandidatesrsquo recently ldquoweighing inrdquo hasbrought this topic to mind and I do feel thatit is important to address

Currently over 8 million peopleprimarily women in the USA suffer fromeating disorders including anorexiabulimia and binge eating Fifteen percentof women 17-24 suffer from eatingdisorders 40 of female college studentssuffer from eating disorders and 91 offemale college students attempt to controltheir weight through strict dieting measures1Whether you are male or female concernedabout your own weight or not I venture toguess that you all have a family memberfriend co-worker neighbor or someonewithin your sphere of influence who has (orbelieve that they have) an issue with weightObesity is a critical health issue affectingour hearts blood pressure susceptibility todiabetes and overall longevity there is nodoubt about that However most of us areaware that there is a preponderance ofattention to the subject of a womanrsquos weightand her acceptance in society Whileobesity is certainly a health issue whichshould be addressed by the individual andher physician no woman should feelintimidated by not being a size 2 or ready towalk the runway

In working with women of differentages weights and concerns relating to bothappearance and health I find that thoseprimarily concerned about the health aspectsusually are more successful at losing weightand maintaining it Keep in mind that ahealthy weight is not necessarily the sameas a body size considered ldquoappropriaterdquo bymany in industries related to physicalappearance ie beauty pageants modelingacting etc Frankly expectation relatingto a womanrsquos size is apparent in almostevery industry and profession A personwho does make a practice of eatingnutritional foods getting aerobic exercisevia walking dancing etc who stretches forflexibility and strength trains to tonemuscles and follows these practices

regularly will maintain a healthy and normalweight in almost every case There aresome exceptions to this that would beidentified through a licensed healthpractitioner and will not be addressed in thisparticular article Additionally anyonesuffering from eating disorders will wish toreceive treatment designated by their healthprofessional2

I would like to take this opportunity toremind all of the women and girls readingthis that you have so much control over yourappearance by your posture your choices inapparel your quest to be healthy and mostof all your confidence I will suggest thatanyone can be stylish and attractive nomatter your weight or size It is up to youto show the ldquoworldrdquo that you will be the bestYOU regardless of your clothing size Takecare of yourself get healthy and enjoy lifeon your terms
