Mission Statement : BIB seeks tobring people together over theInternet by removing obstacles, filling gaps and adding equipmentand channels for communication.

Building International Bridges (BIB) is anon-profit organization that informs, educates & familiarizes our non-travelingglobal neighbors with other people andcultures worldwide. We facilitate directcommunication between individuals viathe latest popular technology and socialmedia including but not limited to Skype,

    Facebook,Orkut, etc.Sixty percentof U.S.residentsdont have apassport so

BIB helps them cross borders through theInternet.

Our efforts strive to lowercultural barriers throughcontact and education. We removeobstacles to communication. We dontbuy computers in Kenya, but we pay forthe guy to collect the used computersfrom the mzungu embassies anddistribute those computers to villages

(and then we arrange for ebooks to puton those computers). Your tax-deductibledonation will be greatly appreciated byenabling us to continue this work. 95% of donations will go towards services in thefield as we strive to limit administrativecosts (paper filing, such as maintainingthe 501(c)(3) status with the IRS) to 5%.

Where does BIB send money? A) Maintaining a "safe" penpal list sothat teachers in the USA can find teachersin other countries that have confirmedSkype and/or Facebook (social media)connections.

    B) Collecting and distributing ebooksand educational lectures on mp3 andmp4. We put these items on CDs (15cents each) and DVDs (25 cents each)and given them to teachers, students, parents and stakeholders in schools. Some favorites include Dan Pink, Ken

Robinson, Sugata Mitra, Dennis Yuzenas,Dennis Littky. We use disk duplicators.

    C) Getting computers into homes ,community centers and schools so thatstudents can use computers to learnand/or connect with Skype. BIB does not

buy computersbut we can helpschools andindividualsconnect withpotential donorsof working pre-

    owned computers.

    D) Finding mentors and putting themon Youtube. It takes time to bring anadult into a classroom -- and often thestudents aren't ready to learn from thatperson or it's not the right person formany of the students at that moment.Mentors on Video is an ongoing effort to

put short interviews with adults whosewords might inspire teenagers to make aneffort or try something new.MentorsonVideo.org is available for you

to share your experiences with the nextgeneration.

    E) Creating "dancing words" videosto inspire changes in attitudes. Divisiveattitudes toward the work of W.

Edwards Deming and others whoadvocate collaboration can underminethe efforts of organizations thatBIB supports. The videos aim to shiftattitudes -- and that shift is whatsometimes makes the difference.

    F) Transforming Education.Teenagers and adults would be in abetter position to serve as culturalambassadors if they knew more about science, history, literature, other

cultures and countries.BIB's general fund supports efforts totransform schools to pursue the SevenGlobal Skills (Tony Wagner), preparingstudents for their Skype contacts. Wesupport QBEAcademy.net ,GuideontheSide.com,TheStudentIsTheClass.com,visualandactive.com,WhatDoYaKnow.com and alternativeassessments.

SPECIAL FUNDS1) QBE Education Fund -- this schoolbuilds soft skills and has projects thatsupport the Penpals list.QBEAcademy .net is home to the BrooksEmeny Ph.D. Library.

    2) Gordon Dyke EducationalFund -- this fund pays for schoolfees for orphans in Kenya. Thestudents who receive support are

encouraged to connect with our Penpalslist. NewDawn-Association.org

    3) Space Education Fund the fundprovides grants to commentators andprograms that assist schools and non-profit organizations in presentinginformation to teenagers and the generalpublic about the development of space. With the reduction of support of NASA,

the USA finds itself in need of newprivate-sector initiatives to meet futurechallenges. Today's students will betomorrow's taxpayers: will today'steenagers have accurate informationto make choices and to defend thosechoices to people who live in othercountries?
