    Four-day training course with examination on day 5, or foress experienced candidates there is the opportunity to takehe examination the following week.

    Suitable for

    Candidates with or without experience in the Paintingnspection Industry. Most candidates will complete the

    BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector Grade 3 examination.Those candidates with previous paint inspection experiencemay complete the BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector Grade 2examination.

    Entry requirements

    No formal entry qualications required, but a knowledge ofdry abrasive blast cleaning or industrial paint applicationechniques would be advantageous.

    Course content

    Corrosion theory; surface preparation; surface contaminantsand tests; paint constituents and technology; solutions anddispersions; drying and curing properties and performance;specied painting conditions; cathodic protection; holiday/pinhole detection; paint-application methods; paint/paintlm testing; paint identication; metal coatings; paint faults;colour; inspection methods; specication requirements;health and safety and working practices.

    Painting Inspector Examination

    Additional information

    Candidates MUST bring:

    Two passport sized photographs

    A valid eyesight certicate from a doctor or an opticianshowing satisfactory eyesight for near vision, permittingreading a minimum of Times Roman N4, or equivalenttype and size letters, at not less than 300mm on astandard test chart for near vision, in at least oneeye, corrected or uncorrected. Candidates for thepainting inspector will be required to have had a colourperception assessment by the Ishihara 24 plate test or

    an equivalent A completed application form and full examination fee

    NOTE: Renewal can only be made within three months ofthe expiry date. Any application received after three monthsof the expiry cannot be considered and can only be renewedby re-examination.

    If the applicant is a holder of BGAS-CSWIP Site CoatingsInspector Approval, it should be noted that day 1 of thesyllabus will cover items which the applicant may bealready conversant in and therefore attendance on thisday (although strongly recommended) is entirely at theirdiscretion. Course duration may then be only 4 days.

    However, should the applicant decide against attendance onthis day, there will be no reduction in course fee.
