BECOMING A PART OF THE #EAGLENATION As a student at Morehead State University, you will have access to high-quality academic programs, incredible facilities and many student support services to ensure your success. However, what allows you to get the authentic MSU experience is making the most of your time outside of the classroom and becoming fully engaged in the campus community.

Once you set foot on campus, you will quickly realize there is no shortage of student activities at MSU. From Greek Life and student organizations to annual activities and events, there are so many ways you can create bonds with fellow Eagles and explore your interests to get a more fulfilling college experience.

student activities The Office of Student at Morehead State provides numerous opportunities for you to become engaged in your campus and community.

Through various involvements, the Office of Student Activities can be the place to find your home at MSU. For many students, involvement in a co-curricular program, Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Student Government Association or the Campus Activities Board can provide you with the opportunity to be engaged in a manner that is comfortable for you. It can be a place to meet people with common interests, get engaged in a new experience or find people that share your values. The Office of Student Activities will enhance your student experience by complementing your academic goals.

Legacy Events Each year, MSU hosts several events that bring students, families, alumni and the community together to celebrate what it means to be an Eagle. Make sure you participate in any number of activities during events like MSU Homecoming and Family Weekend.

eagle linkEagle Link is the engagement platform for students to discover what is happening at MSU.

On Eagle Link, you can see events that are upcoming along with information about each event.

This platform also provides an updated list of all Registered Student Organizations at MSU. Each organization has a public page that has information about the organization, meeting times and place, as well as contact information for that organization.

Eagle Link is a great place to explore and build your own engagement experience.

student government association (SGA) The Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the voice and advocate for the students at Morehead State University. Through partnerships with campus departments, SGA strives to meaningfully impact the student experience. SGA also helps the engagement of the student by providing activities and events for the campus community while supporting events and activities from other campus organizations and departments.

Student Congress meets every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in 329 Adron Doran University Center. Meetings are open to the public.

Fraternity and Sorority Life With more than 16 percent of the total student population being members of a Greek letter organization, going Greek is a great way gain support, solidarity, a sense of belonging and shared social experiences that could turn into lifelong friendships.

While there is a social element to Greek organizations, fraternities and sororities value loyalty, friendship and honesty while emphasizing academic excellence and community service. MSU chapters provide over 4,000 hours in community service and raise $21,500 for local and national nonprofit organizations. Also, taking on leadership positions in your chapter provides you with opportunities to lead committees, manage budgets and build your network through interactions with both faculty and administrators, community members and leaders, and fellow Greeks both locally and nationwide.

Campus Activities Board (CAB) The mission of the Campus Activities Board (CAB) is to enhance and unify the MSU community by providing collaborative programming that will support student engagement and the co-curricular learning experience while complementing MSU’s Academic Mission.

CAB plays an integral part in planning and executing Morehead State’s legacy programs and other events, including:

recreation and wellnessYou can be active and stay fit at our award-winning Recreation and Wellness Center (also known as The Rec). College Consensus named The Rec one of the top 50 campus rec centers in the U.S. – the only one in Kentucky included in the list.

In addition to serving as the epicenter for MSU’s intramural leagues, The Rec features:

• Cardio machines and running track.

• Free group fitness classes for students.

• Free weights and Hammer Strength machines.

• Rogue barbells and kettlebells.

• Swimming pool with whirlpool.

Eagle Diversity Education Center The Eagle Diversity Education Center (EDEC) is dedicated to developing and sustaining an academic, social and cultural environment that embraces and supports diverse student populations. We strive to consistently generate and facilitate activities and programming that challenge, support and contribute to the continued development and success of students of color. EDEC is inclusive to all members of the University community and provides focus towards African American, Latino and Hispanic students.

EDEC services include:

• Help the MSU family develop a better understanding of the experience of students of color.

Education Abroad While there is plenty do to on campus at MSU, education abroad programs offer students a unique educational and cultural experience. MSU is a member of several consortia and has several collaborative exchange agreements with foreign universities. International study experiences include short (summer/winter/spring) or long (semester/year) programs, as well as internships abroad.

Academic credit is available for most education options. Financial aid can often be obtained and scholarships may be available with some programs.

eagle athletics When you become an Eagle, you will get plenty of chances to cheer on your fellow Eagles at athletic events held throughout the year.

Our Eagles are charter members of the NCAA Division I Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) and compete at the football championship subdivision level in the Pioneer Football League. Our teams have won OVC titles in sports ranging from basketball and baseball to volleyball, golf and soccer. If you do come out to cheer on MSU Athletics, you can see one of the best cheerleading squads in the nation in the Morehead State Cheerleaders, which have won 47 Universal Cheerleading Association championships since 1988.

living on campusWhether it’s your classmates, your roommates or your fellow Eagles in your residence hall, there’s plenty of ways to connect and make your MSU experience even better.

When you live on campus, you are closer to all things MSU, whether you want to walk to dining halls and classrooms, meet with faculty or staff, or link up with student organizations.

RHAThe Resident Housing Association (RHA) is a liaison between MSU’s Office of Student Housing and the students residing in MSU-affiliated housing. RHA seeks to inspire growth, leadership and involvement of MSU students through the development and utilization of advocacy, programming, and campus pride and spirit.

Become an RA The resident advisor (RA), although assigned to a specific floor, is responsible for the well-being of all residents within his/her residence hall community. The primary role of the RA is to build a welcoming and inclusive community within the residence halls while assisting residents in achieving their goals, both personally and academically.

From student to alumni As you complete your college degree, you will go from being an Eagle student to joining tens of thousands who have walked across the stage at graduation to officially become an MSU alumnus. Whether you are a student or a graduate, there are plenty of ways to stay connected to the #EagleNation for the rest of your life.

Current Eagles can join Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA), a group of 30 dedicated MSU students who represent the University and serve as a link between current students and alumni. SAA members serve as the official host group of the University and the Alumni Association. They are also active in the recruitment of new students, promoting the University and participating in the organization of major events like Homecoming, Spring Gala, Graduation Celebration and Alumni Reunions (you can learn more at alumni.moreheadstate.edu/saa).

When you become an MSU alumnus, there are plenty of ways to stay connected with your alma mater through the MSU Alumni Association. Alumni from Lexington, Louisville and Cincinnati attend annual networking events in Kentucky and other parts of the country. You can donate to MSU and provide future MSU Eagles a pathway to a college education and future success. Plus, you can take advantage of a variety of benefits for yourself and your family.
