Beyond ArcGIS Desktop *ArcMapEASING THE TRANSITION TO ARCGIS PRO
Why?
• ArcMap goes into Extended Support in ~ ???
A year ago Feb 2020
Why?
• ArcMap has limited enhancements / bug fixes
• 10.8 updates• six existing GP Tools have new parameters• three new map projections• support for new versions of Oracle and IBMDb2
Why?• ArcGIS Pro is receiving the bulk of ESRI's programming resources
• All webinars, seminars, training, lessons, etc are focused on Pro
• You won’t see ArcMap in esri conference presentations at NEARC, etc
• ArcMap isn’t even in the lineup on the esri web site as a product

3D INTEGRATION
Things I Appreciate• GP History is saved with the project even after you close it
• Symbology and Overall Cartography more robust
• Living Atlas data at fingertips
• Copy and paste everything
• Arcade
• Many more chart options: box plots, data clock, calendar heat chart
• Generate and format reports
• Jupyter notebooks are right inside Pro
