Laura slater Analysis- Pretty Hurts By Beyoncé

I am going to be analysing the video ‘Pretty Hurts’ – By Beyoncé. In this I am going to be looking at characters, Narrative events, iconography, setting and technical and audio codes and see how Beyonce uses these in her video to portray and image.

The first are I am going to look at is characters. Beyoncé is the main character within the music video. As well as this other beautiful women are present, acting as beauty queens. Each of these actors are the stereotypical beauty queens. For example tall, skinny, beautiful women. As well as this we see all of their personalities change from when they are in the dressing rooms arguing with each other to when they get out on stage and they change to be happy and smiling. This is also stereotypical of the girls not only being fake looking but having a fake personality.
