• Coaching throughout the academic student cycle• One-stop, intrusive, family case management approach• Career development, exploration, readiness, decision making
and placement activities• College financial aid assistance and program-specific grants and
scholarships• Learning community/cohort-building model beginning in
Kindergarten• Summer experience programs at various developmental ages• Early, continuous investment by all participating institutions in
student success
What does P2P do?
P2P is a program designed to create a seamless educational pathway and career support pathway support structure from Kindergarten to college completion. There are 3 levels of support:
Level 1: Preparing for Success in College and Career -Genesee ISD
Level 2: Providing College Success, Career Success and Decision Making Skills - Mott Community College (MCC)
Level 3: Providing Transfer College Success and Tailored Career Success Skills - Local 4-year Colleges
Target Audience
P2P is aimed at students who are underrepresented in higher education and do not know that college is a possibility, but have the ability to succeed. The program targets average achieving students and their families who meet one or more of the following risk factors:
• Immigrant or child of immigrant parents
• Member of a minority group
• Low income or single parent household
• First generation college student
• Students with disabilities and/or in special education
• Homeless students and/or those living in unstable conditions
Elementary School Students

• Field trips to occupational sites and college
• Volunteers from various careers in classrooms
• Family Career Planning Sessions
• Family Literacy Sessions
• College Student tutoring sessions
• College Student mentoring sessions
• Intrusive case management for students and families deemed critical for success
Middle School Students

• Introduction to Career Pathways
• Field trips to college and occupational worksites
• Introduction to college entrance information
• Essay Writing for Success courses
• Participate in College and Job Fairs
• Career Inventory Assessments
• Career interviews
• Mentorship program
• Intrusive case management for students and families
High School Students

• Participate in a career interest and exploration summer bridge program
• Participate in a series of activities and workshops that focus on career identification,
• Planning, preparation, and workforce readiness skills such as goal setting, problem
• Solving skills, and project management
• Participate in job shadowing, internships and apprenticeships
• Participate in at least one inter-professional and interdisciplinary course or a set of activities or projects
• Develop a personal career and academic electronic portfolio (“e-portfolio”) and resume
• Onsite placement testing
• Speakers, workshops, and classes aimed at supporting college and career preparation, enrollment, and success
