Exadata Cloud at Customer – Use Cases • Migrating All our Analytics applications workload to ExaCloud Machine
• Upgrade to 12c for supportability• Use in-Memory configuration for better performance• Use Oracle ASO for encrypting our PCI/PHI/PII data for better
compliance with regulations like HIPPA, PCI etc.• Real Application Testing (Database Replay) for ease of testing
efforts and comparing the performance before and after a release/patch/upgrade
• Active Data guard for read-only reporting systems at our secondary Data Center
• Use Bursting capability of cloud for our various business needs without spending lots of $$$:
• Month and Year End processing• Open Enrolment period
• Provide Active/Active solution across data centers to our mission critical applications to increase the resiliency
15
Exadata Cloud at Customer – Use Cases• Consolidate & standardize (using multi-tenant option) as much
workload possible on Exacloud machine to reduce the database server/storage footprint and license support cost
• Explore opportunities of ExaCS as Active standby for databases that are deployed on ExaCM
Service Level IT Architecture Disaster Recovery
Level Definition HA Design DR Design
Tier 0 Mission Critical Continuous Availability Active/Active, automated
Tier 1 Business Critical High Availability Active/Standby
Tier 2Business Essential High Availability Active/Passive
Tier 3 Operational Optional Optional
Tier 4 Non-Prod Optional N/A
16
Exadata Cloud at Customer – Use Cases• Stack & Rack Vs Cloud Elasticity/Scalability: New project does
take weeks from approved LOE to hardware purchase and Database ready for application. With ExaCM, we will have the platform ready in a day for deploying the database. This also result quick business innovation and tremendous cost savings from project hours perspective.
• Look for opportunities to migrate existing mission critical, business critical and business essential workload on Exadata Cloud Machine
• Adopt DevOps culture for databases and middleware using various tools available on ExaCM/OCM
17
Oracle Cloud at Customer – Use Cases
ü Extending the use of Oracle Cloud at Customer:
• Oracle Database IaaS Virtualization for non-Prod and less Critical Oracle Production databases
• Due to full Parity with Oracle Public Cloud technology, extend the on-prem cloud to Oracle cloud for Oracle databases (Especially for bursting)
• Oracle WebLogic IaaS virtualization for middleware platforms
• Setup our Oracle enterprise Manager (13c) on the OCM
• As OCM X6 supports many more PaaS Services, extend some of the services in the cloud like Java Cloud Services, Golden gate services etc.
200 (40 cores * 5 nodes)
2560GB (512GB *5)
64TB (12.8TB*5)
45 TB (32 TB usable after accounting for control plane usage and 20% buffer for
system metadata)
18
Oracle End-to-End Exadata Cloud at Customer Architecture
ü Exadata Cloud at Customer (ExaCM)ü Oracle Cloud Machine (OCM)ü Oracle Gateway (OSG)
19
Exadata Cloud at Customer Network Connectivity
• Oracle CloudOps accesses Cloud Machines (OCM/ Exadata Cloud at Customer) from the Oracle Advanced Support Gateway (OASG) though a set of IPs from the Management IP pool
• OCM ToR switches can act as Access switches and connect directly to Datacenter Distribution switches over layer 3
• Communication between Customer network and OCM is routed (OSI Layer 3 )

22
Migration to Exadata Cloud at Customer – Quest Experience
8-12 weeks of planning and execution
23
Migration to Exadata Cloud at Customer - Configuration Options
Configuring Oracle Database Cloud Machine instance requires series of choices that determine various characteristics associated with service:
• Subscription Type• Term-based, non-metered
• Exadata System Configuration• Eighth/Quarter/Half/Full Rack
• Exadata Storage Configuration• DATA disk group• RECO disk group• DBFS and ACFS Disk groups
• Service Level• Oracle database Exadata Cloud Service
