TAHITI - NOT JUST A HOLIDAY DESTINATION
For many, the name Tahiti conjures up
images of a beautiful holiday destination,
white sand beaches and sparkling blues
waters. And Tahiti is indeed a BEAUTIFUL
island. But it is more than that. It is home to
approximately 262,000 people who need
God. Once a Christian nation that sent
missionaries all over the Pacific, Tahiti isnow collapsing
through prostitution,
alcoholism, drug abuse and family
breakdown. Young Tahitian youth are
frustrated and searching for answers to lifes
questions, but have few christian leaders to
look up to.
There is currently no YWAM presence in
Tahiti. YWAM Island Breeze Sydney (my
base) is hoping to pioneer a base there next
year, and so part of our mission for this
outreach is to go and build a strong
relationship with the people over there,
especially the churches.
In order to lead this team to Tahiti, I need
$5000 by the beginning of October. When I
came to Sydney I had not planned on
staffing a DTS, and therefore had not
budgeted/fundraised the money for this
outreach. This is where I need your help!
$5000 is approximately 3300. I know, it
sounds a lot! But I have worked out that if
100 people donated 30 I would have
almost all the costs. What does 30 buy
you? A couple of tickets to the cinema and
some popcorn? Those super cute new shoes
(yes men, I am talking to you)? A meal out
on a Saturday evening? Well, I am asking
you to consider donating 30 (or more if
you so wish) to help me get to Tahiti.
I find it hard sometimes, telling people that I
am doing missions in Australia, New
Zealand and Tahiti. Wow, God sends you
to all the really hard places doesnt he
Beth. Well one thing I can honestly say is
that it is in the most unlikely, beautiful places
that there is the most brokeness. There is the
most need for a loving God. The church
which has been dead and stagnant for so
long needs awakening. And I am so honored
that God would use a hodge-podge bunch ofpeople like us to do
it!

and guidance in leading the team, for safety
as we travel and that God would really use
us to extend His kingdom in New Zealand
and Tahiti!
