2. Goal :

1. To make people aware about the ongoing women foeticide in different

spheres of Indian society.

2. To make people sympathize women in society.

3. To make people respect women.

4. To avoid discrimination between man and women.

5. To make people understand that women is the unique element of society.

As man is important to society, so is the women. Time to time, the Indian

Government have been implementing different policies. The present practice

instance to make good awareness and save women. Women feticides should

not be considered an individual problem. However it should be considered a

terrible disease which may lead the society to extinction in some forthcoming

years. The present practice aims at creating awareness not only among

students but also society.

3. The Context :

Of Late , the world is becoming a global village. Due to tremendous

revolution in mobile and internet, it is coming closer. However India and some

other countries are still straggling to avoid female feticides . Today though we

live in an educated society, we are often trapped in several kinds of superstition.

India is male-dominated country. A majority of society believes in

patriarchy and the resultant exploitation of women. Most of the families expect

male child in their homes and that is why girl child is usually looked down upon.

Doctor is considered and compared as the god. However, for the sake of

money, some Doctors and medical practitioners bring about female feticides.

Recently in the neighbouring city , Beed , a doctor couple (Munde) has been

arrested due to their heinous crime. They used to make large number of surgeries

and they almost murdered thousands of budding female children. So the practice

proposes to focus lights on such monstrous doctors through different activities

such as rally, street plays, posters, proclamations etc.

4. The Practice :

Late Abasaheb Kakade College is organized the practice – Female

Feticide. All students of the college were present. The college was also invited

some peoples ( parents group) from neighbouring villages. In the begaing of the

program, Prof. Kailas Pote introduce the practice. He has also hinted at this

burring issue which is prevalent in our society. Then principal of the college

addressed the students and parents . Through his speech he focused female

foeticide clearly. He shared his thoughts and advocated the equality of man and

women in society.

Specially , Indian society hesitates to maintain the balance between male

child and female child . Every family expects a male child because the prevalent

misunderstanding is that the male child is the lamp of the race. In case of

education , the boy gets more benefits compare to girl , however this is the

remotest thing. Most people don‟t prefer a girl in their homes. So she is killed

before she born.

After principal delivered his thought-provoking speech, some students

also shared their thoughts. Speakers were also form parents group. Female

foeticide is really great disaster to the society. Some parents were uneducated

among the audience, but they also contempted this injustice to female child in

society.

After all speeches is over, the college organized a rally from college to

different lanes of Bodhegaon. Through rally students were proclaiming against

female feticide. Man students were participated in street plays. The street plays

were displaying the forthcoming disasters which society will have to face. Some

girl students were reciting poems. The poems were a strong voice against female

feticide. After the rally all students were asked to gather at the central place of

the village. Some villagers also shared their thoughts. Finally , all people took the

oath and decided to avoided the heinous the female feticide.

5. Evidence of Success :

Success is remote phenomenon. Work is worship. The college received

many good complements for neighboring villagers. The villagers also requested

the principal and the staff of the college to organized such different practices like

dangers of pollutions, environmental awareness, global warming, tree plantation

so on and so forth.

On the campus of the college, students started to attend college more

regularly. The most important fact is that boys students started respecting girl

students. All teachers of the college have also started speaking more on female

feticide. The non teaching staff is also well aware about this heinous act. In

addition to it, people have become more aware and recent information is that male

members of family respect female members. Newly married couples are

expecting female child in their homes.

The big success of the practice is that to some extent we are observing a

kind of equality in society and we are also about to implement such different

practices that will lead us to cultural development.

6. Problems Encountered And Resources Required :

If some thing is to be done, someone is expected to face many challenges

and problems. One should also be ready and steady about the required resources.

When college was thinking to bring about this event, there were some complaints

regarding the practice of female feticide. However in spite of problems, the

college decided to set out for the practice and a accomplished it successfully.

When the rally reach the village, some students started creating uproar.

However due to the conscious teachers students behaved properly. Some villagers

were also reluctant to attend the practice. Talking about the resources , student

was the major resource for the college. The second resource was the parent group.

The participation of the villagers in the rally was also a good resource. The

college also made use of posters and hoardings.

1. Voter’s Awareness –

2. Goal :

1. To make the voters aware about their responsibility.

2. To help them to know the importance of democracy.

3. To persuade the new voters for registration.

4. To make them think rationally in order to elect the proper candidate.

5. To define their role in reinforcing democracy.

6. To make people understand regarding the ruling corruption and scams.

7. Counseling voters to elect the candidate having good character.

8. Efforts for creating a healthy atmosphere for voting and election.

2. The context :

India is a democratic country. Election is the way to strengthen the

democracy and make the people believe in the democratic values. This is the

period when every voter fills the power and therefore the parliamentary election

held in 2014 is challenge in many aspects for the election commission. It is only

because of this program like voter‟s awareness, public debating , rallies, public

discussion, trial balloons, etc. , in the modern society elections becoming more

valuable and sensitive.

India is moving towards the super power and therefore this election its

own importance to provide the stable government. In some other countries there is

a presidential power and there decision making activities are little faster.

However, there are some dangers involved in it. Democratic power has also its

own pros and cons. Today in spite of a strong implementation of the code of

conduct, we come across many incidents surrounding, attacking and violating the

morality of democratic elections .

4. The Practice :

Late Abasaheb Kakade Arts college organized the program of the voter‟s

awareness. The program was inaugurated by praying to the portrait of Mahatma

Gandhi. The portrait was garlanded by the chief guest and principal of the college.

Then concept of the program was presented by Asst. Prof. Adhav S.P., the

convener of the program. He explained aims and objectives of the program

through his speech. It became clear that voter is the king and capable to show his

power through the ballet instead of bullet.

The chief guest of the program emphasized the democratic value through

his speech. He made strong appeal to the audience and people to be responsible

for giving vote as per his/her best conscience. He also lead the students rally

which went through the central lane of Bodhegaon . Students held posters in their

hands which made appeal for healthy election e.g. vote is right, voters are king,

etc. The rally was ended in college by a lecture of Asst. Prof. Bansode B.N. on

“Democratic Values and Elections”.

The program ended with vote of thanks by Asst. Prof. Padole S.H. All

voters took the oath to vote fairly to reinforce democracy and stabilize the

government.

5. Evidence of Success :

The program was resulted into mission that was taken in hand by the

masses. The villagers gathered and supported the rally. The atmosphere in the

village was very swirling and every body held that their should be change in

ruling party because the country needs stable and firm government.

After the practice was over, some people started coming college to and

fro. There awareness and enthusiasm was very remarkable. Students were maiden

voters and they were also very interested to vote. On the day of election there

were long cues of voters to wanted to vote fairly to elect the candidate properly.

6. Problems Encountered And Resources Required :

Now a days, election has become a very sensitive issue and majority of

people are violating the moral code of conduct. When the practice was in progress some

students also ram panted here and there. However due to strict discipline of the college,

they were controlled and slightly punished. When the rally reach the village there was a

huge uproar against the college authority but some good villagers controlled other people

and made the rally a good success. Considering the resources, student was the good

rescore. In addition to it, the college made different thinks to display the extreme

necessity of fair election.

District Level Oratory competition

Goal –

The institution is fully committed to inbuilt and nurture the potential

of students. Throughout each academic year, the institution conducts several

activities which provide huge scope to develop different abilities and

efficiencies students possess in themselves. Oratory competition is among

all such activities which helps them stand firmly and express their thoughts

publicly. The sole aim of the contest was to enhance oratory skills, body

language as well as to make students future spokespersons.

The Context

In general, students prefer to be backbenchers and indulge in

inferiority complex in themselves. Though students show performance in

written examination or competition, it is the need of hour to inculcate oratory

skills among them. Even though many students have some inborn qualities

like public speaking, anchoring, singing, etc. They were afraid of exposing

themselves openly. After proper guidelines, they preferred to participate.

After the institution made them aware of certain social issues which disturb

social structure, they showed interest to present such challenging issues like

gender equality, changing seasons and rural life, natural calamities,

corruption, crimes, etc.

The Practice

Bhangude from Dadapatil Rajale College won the first prise and Kiran

Tahakik and Shital Dhage won second and third prizes.

Evidence of Success:

The oratory competition proved to be successful and effective one.

Many students showed readiness to take part in such activities. The contest

enhanced confidence in students paved the way to expose potential. All

contesters performed well and satisfied audience by way of different oratory

skills and gestures. Even the examiners Prof.Rajmohamad Shaikh, Prof.

Rajendra Marathe and Prof.Sunil Adhav found in difficulties for electing

winners of the competition. The competition resulted to be pioneer for future

public speakers.

Problems Encountered and Resources Required

A basic problem which the college faced is to prepare students for this

activity. Earlier it was difficult to convince them. Even students from other

colleges felt uneasy for the contest. However, the institution made available

certain reference material to tackle and rethink different social issues. Lack

of awareness hurdled many students from participating in the contest. On the

day of the contest, the institution provided breakfast and lunch to

participants and audience as well. Photographs- Evidences of success

Title : Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan water conservation drive

Objective

To increase the underground water level

To avoid water scarcity

To control soil erosion

To percolate water in the ground by blocking

To increase irrigation percentage

To create decentralized water storage

To increase storage capacity of reservoirs & percolation tank

Awareness regarding water storage preservation of water & impetus to tree

plantation

Context

The village shekte (Bk.) has always been drought affected one. The

college decided to carry out some essential activity regarding water conservation

in this village. Water scarcity has always been a burning issue in the rural area. At

this juncture, in 2014, the Maharashtra government launched water conversation

policy under the name Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan to stop the water drainage, to

increase the groundwater level. In this village, local bodies do supply the water by

the water tanker. The college has organized a national service scheme camp in the

village for 7 days. During these days an awareness was created regarding the

seriousness in the decreasing underground water level. The college came across

that some of the people have already migrated due to the paucity of water,

unemployment. Therefore the college with the help of NSS volunteers decided to

rejuvenate the unused water resources, to construct continuous contour trenches at

the village.

The practice

Before the organization of the NSS camp in 2016 the Gram Sabha

(Meeting of the local body) was held to build up an outline of the work to be done

in the vicinity of the village shekte (Bk.). NSS volunteers along with local leaders

and villagers carried out the survey to fix the site to build CCT (continuous

contour trenches). The villagers agreed unanimously to rejuvenate the bore well in

primary school campus and construct a CCT on the village stream. A work has

been done with the help of used cement bag filled with sand to create hurdle in the

torrent. By doing this it became very useful in the rainy season of 2017 monsoon.

It also stops the soil erosion and increased the water level in the area below.

Evidence of success

The Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan becomes very effective for the village. This

water conservation scheme proved very successful. Farmers have reported the

increased water level in the wells below the CCT. It also helps to established

ecosystem for the birds and other being. Students have also learned the

importance of CCT and want to make the same at their villages. More over the

villagers became sensitive towards the necessity of water preservation

Problems encountered

The village shekte (Bk.) is almost 150 Km. away from the ahmednagar

city. The village lacks some of the infrastructural facilities, such as road

connectivity, majority of the people are illiterate there for it is difficult to make

them understood the value of water conservation. However a persistent guidance

and counseling make it possible for the NSS volunteers.

Notes

If government appointed officers and workers come to the village and

sanctioned some of the seed money it would have been more convenient to do the

more qualitative work.

3. The context :

Day by day, the proportion of blood is decreasing the

college has been continuously organizing blood donation camp

for last three years. All girl students of the college, only one girl

was liable to donate blood. It means that the proportion of

pure water, lack of balanced diet, imbalance in environment,

poor nutrition, unawareness, etc. Even the proportion of anemia

is decresing in men as well. Therefore, many people require

blood. Due to increasing accidents people ned blood to a great

proportion. Like other man-made manufactures blood can not

be manufactured iin laboratory, therefore, blood can only be

made available by donating. So, the college orgnised blood

Performing Arts

The context:

As per as the vision and mission of the college is concerned, the college is

committed to carry out maximum curricular and extracurricular activities. Conduction of

performing arts is one of such activities which provided a platform for student‟s

participants to short case their potential in various performing art apart from their

academic learning performing arts are form of arts which artists use their voices of

bodies, often in relation to other objects, to convey artistic expression. It is different from

visual arts, which is when artists use paint canvas or various materials to create physical

or static art objects. Performing arts include several disciplines, each performed in front

of a live audience therefore keeping this mind students were inspired to participate and

perform arts such as dance, singing, drama, mimicry, music, comedy, etc.

Objectives of the Practice

a) To provide a platform for students to showcase their potentials.

b) To organize annual gathering..

c) To make students to lock forward to performing arts as career options.

d) To create cheerful ambience on the campus.

e) To sensitize students towards social happenings through various arts.

f) To recreate cultural awareness

The Practice

Keeping in mind the need of arrangement of annual gathering student for

exposing several potentials among, the college organized a one day programme of

performing arts on 20th

Feb, 2018. However before the day a lot of effort was being done

so as to make students participate and let them know that such programmes are the part

and parcel in the overall development of a student

The department of cultural affairs has invited Mr. Kamble, Mr. Gaikwad and Mr.

Akshay Jagdhane in the college for artistic practice and rhythmic arrangement of

performances. The trainers got the students into practice almost for ten days very

sincerely.

Student of three faculties participated in the programmes very enthusiastically.

Noticeable fact was that number of girls student participation was higher than boys

students despite of the rural background of participants in performing arts is 48 and

among them so were girls students and is were boys students. Together they performed

almost 42 programmes. The arts they performed were dances, music, theatre, singing,

comedy, mimicry, poetry, reading, oratory debate, etc.

Page 33: BEST PRACTICES 1.Female Foeticideakcbodhegaon.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/7.2.1... · 1.Female Foeticide ... India is male-dominated country. A majority of society believes in

The department of cultural affairs had also appointed two examinations for the

evaluation of performing arts of students on the same day, the college had invited a chief

guest Yogeshji Ranmale, Zee Marathi sa-re-ga-ma fame for the inauguration of the

programme. His singing made the ambience very cheerful.

Performances of all participated students were worth be warding and admiring

however, the examinations had selected a few student whose performances were rather

excellent these selected students got prizes such as : a) students of FYBCA got the prize

for the realistic theoretical presentation entitled Najre Adache Goan; the second prize was

given to a TYBA student Mr. Ameer Sayyad for his mimicry of Jugglar and the third

prize was given to a TYBSC student Rantamala Khedkar for her singing. Two prizes

were also distributed to two students. Mr. Krushna Madake, a student of SYBSC received

a prize Ganesha and Miss. Kajal Vharkate also received a prize for her „Lavani’ Dance

Problems Encountered:

The college lacks recreation cum auditorium hall. Almost all students are from

rural background. Therefore there was initiate hesitation in performing arts. Especially

hesitation was conspicuous in girls students another problem was that due to continuous

academic works like lectures, practical and tutorials students found it little difficult to

spare time for practice and participation in gathering. The college lacks musician, trainers

for cultural activities which was bit problematic in the initial days of audition. Most of

the students coming from poor financial background found it difficult to purchase drapery

and other essentials required for the performances of arts. The exam schedule begins

almost in February, therefore it was to some extent problematic to gather students and

take their time. Students do not like to think out of the box and they hesitate to look

forward to performing arts as career options ahead in future due to the burden of other

running activities. Therefore only one day had to be reserved for all performances.

Impact of the practice:

The impact of the practice was very positive. Initially, it came across that due to

some obstacles, students may not participate or the number of participation would be very

less. However as the audition moved forward the number of participation increased

gradually.

There was variation in performing arts the variation was in the form of local,

regional , national and western as well as which made the entire programme very colour

full. There was a common audience that they missed the participation.

The principal of the college promised student that the annual gathering of the next

academic year would be held for three days, this was the real impact. The chief guest also

appreciated all performances.

Another impact was that through several performing arts. There was focus on

different social issues like farmers suicide, dowry, female foeticide, etc which are needed

to be addressed and highlighted.

Several sections of society from the neighbourhood took notice of all

performances and agreed to the fact that such opportunities for students are the real

platform for future careers.

Resources required:

The college hired musician trainer to shape performances of students. The

college also hired Pandals music system catering facility, photographer and a hall where

in the programmes was arranged.

Bharud

The Context:

The sects like nath, mahanubhav and the varkari created a large body of literature

and brought about the first wave of cultural enlightenment in Maharashtra. They created a

sense of religious and literature identity. The first ware of enlightenment created an

awareness that the period of 500 years that followed saints and poets composed in their

Page 35: BEST PRACTICES 1.Female Foeticideakcbodhegaon.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/7.2.1... · 1.Female Foeticide ... India is male-dominated country. A majority of society believes in

works. Saint Eknath handled a poetic form like „bharud‟ with which its inherent dramatic

element reached out to the large masses. Popular musical forms such as bharud, gavaln

and arti took to the common masses highest religious and social thoughts through the

medium of poetry such literary writings of saints not only shaped religious matters a lot

to bring about social reforms.

Keeping this motive in mind the college organized a programme which was

typically meant for rational reforms among students on the eve of the foundation dap of

the college.

The college celebrates its foundation day every year was established in 1997 in

the remote eastern village Bodhegaon of shevgaon tehsil. The motive behind establishing

the college is to provide facilities of higher education, especially for girls, wards of cane

cutters and economically backward students. This motive entitles the college as

community-driven institute. Hence, organizing programmes like Bharud for social

reforms becomes obligatory on 27th

September 2017, the college organized a programme

of social reforms through Bharud of TV artist and well known singer cum actor Mr.

Hamid Sayyad from Bhatkudgaon.

Objectives of the practice:

a) To remember the motive behind the establishment of the college.

b) To bring about social reforms.

c) To sensitize students to social reforms

d) To rejuvenate folk culture

e) To reinforce social commitment

f) To appreciate contemporary proponent of folk culture

The Practice:

On the eve of the foundation day, several activities were organized. They were

alumni meet, publication of „Lalsurya periodical and particularly Bharud programme by

the social reformer Mr. Hameed Alim sayyd.

Hameed Alim sayyad launched his programme of Bharud initially by

commemorating the contribution of Late Abasaheb Kakade, Shahir Amar Shaikh,

Annabhau Sathe, in the formation of the eastern part formation of the eastern parts of

shevgaon tehsil particularly Bodhegaon village and the vicinity, He paid huge tribute to

Comrade Abasaheb Kakade for his pioneering work in the field of education and society.

He also praised Adv. Vidyadharji Kakade and Harshadatai Kakade for their effort in

providing facilities of higher education.

Hameed sayyd, at outset referred to saint Eknath from paithan who composed the

germ of bharud for social enlightenment. He mentioned that saint Eknath was a

prominent Marathi Saint Chokha, and religious poet of the varkari sampradaya, in the

development of Marathi literature Ekanth is seen as a bridge between his predecessors

Dnyaneshwar and Namdev and the later Tukaram. Through his presentation, he further

explained the concept of Bharud. He said bharud is one of the important lock arts of

Maharashtra, which is still alive and going stronger in today‟s times after the tamasha

bharud is next favourite form of talk arts in the rural areas.

Bharud art form is as educative as it is enjoyable and it through light on several

social issues so nas with his associated which focused some social and religious lacuna.

Issues such as dowry, discrimination, untouchability, spirituality, fundamentalism,

Page 36: BEST PRACTICES 1.Female Foeticideakcbodhegaon.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/7.2.1... · 1.Female Foeticide ... India is male-dominated country. A majority of society believes in

misunderstandings, etc were highlighted through his melodious singing and dramatic

presentation.

His bharud began with the praise of lord vithoba with the laud cry of.

“pundalik varade hari vitthal ..

Shri dnyandev tukaram …”

He also sang the bhajan of Vithoba- Rukhmai. This bhajan continued for

some time allowing the enthusiasm slowly build and finally when the dhythem reached a

crescendo a loud cry of pundlik varadev… was given by the singers, accompanied by the

audience.

Problems encountered: As the present generation of students is engaged in the entertainment provided by

Bollywood, they were initially reluctant to respond to the programme likewise other sorts

of entertainment are easily accessible to students due to the facility of Wi-Fi and android

mobile.

The next problem that the host faced was that of the unavailability of auditorium

hall because of which the programme had to be carried out at open place behind the

college.

The next problem was that of inadequate time because other activities of the

foundation day such as the publication of the “Lalsurya” periodical and alumni meet

were also conducted at the same time. Student of BSc were also busy in some practical

sessions.

Impact of the practice: As the programme of Bharud was necessarily meant for social enlightenment, the

reason is today students are tomorrow‟s civilians and they should be enlightened for

future information in society.

The Bharud‟s Hameed Sayyad presented enabled student to nurture rational mind-

set for existence of pluralistic society. The programme also shaped career directions of

many students. The major impact was belt among many students and made them expose

their potentials in literature.

The programme made students look forward to career and life and society

sensitively. Another impact was the resonation of look culture which has started ruining

due to the invasion and excessive availability of modern entertainment. The programme

also highlighted certain social misdeeds which are needed to be rectified promptly so as

to avoid some forthcoming social disputes in future

Resources Required:

Mr. Hameed Sayyad has already brought his associates in student with him,

therefore was little scope to use local things. Yet, the college managed other essential

things such as stage, sound system, catering facility, hospitality, etc.
