A Message from the Administrative team:
“ We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors., we borrow it from our children. “
~ Native American Proverb We have an exciting week with the Mathematical Centrum contests written by several students in grades 3-8. It’s great practice for other contests that they may write in the future. We wish them all the best! We are also excited in welcoming our Danish delegates who will be visiting our school to learn more about the Ontario public school system. Please welcome them as they visit our classrooms. Try using the quotes listed above as a conversation starter at the dinner table. Ask your children, “What does this mean? What is the moral of the quote? What are some examples? How can we contribute?” You’ll be surprised with what they come up with! ~ Ms. Broderick and Ms. Rosenbloom

Lunch Time Programs – Start Monday April 13th Students in these programs eat lunch in their respective lunchrooms, and then go to the classroom designated for their program from 12:00 pm – 12:50 pm. Kindergarten students eat lunch in their lunchroom and will be picked up by the instructors from their lunchroom at 12:00 pm. They will be escorted back to their class by the Kindergarten ECEs at 12:50 pm. The only exception to this is the Ukulele Program where the students eat in the class while the Ukuleles are being tuned prior to their lesson. See the attached document for the room location.
Grade 2A Science Inquiry Showcase Thank you to the following families who donated birthday books to the library: Ms Buksner’s Grade 2 class is very excited to showcase their learning from their Simple Machines & Movement science inquiry unit. Students will be demonstrating the use of their compound gadgets that they created as well as playing their Lego Movie about their gadget. The showcase will take place in the Library on Wednesday, April 15th during Periods 5 (1:35-2:15pm) & 6 (2:35-3:15pm). All are welcome!
We Are Silent – Thursday April 16th For those of you unfamiliar with the day, it is an educational event to honour those adults and children around the world who don't have a voice (figuratively-speaking): child workers, people who are disenfranchised, women and children who are unable to get an education, etc. Last year, we included all students in grades 1-8. Since not talking for an entire day is highly impractical, we decided that we would all participate period 3 (10:50-11:40). Classes were asked to work silently, and even written communication was discouraged for that period so that students could understand how difficult it is not to have a "voice". See how challenging this can be.
MADD presentation: April 17th On Friday, April 17 from 9:00 to 10:00, in the big gym, the grades 7 and 8 will be participating in workshop presented by MADD Canada. The workshop is called Aftermath, which reviews the perils of drinking and driving. Although our students aren't driving it begins the process of consequences associated with drinking. If you would like to preview Aftermath, visit, http://www.madd.ca/madd2/en/services/youth_services_school_aftermath.html
