STEM + Bash’em Bots with LEGO MaterialsEntering grades 2-6 Instructor: Play-Well TEKnologies$375 • Max 24Join Play-Well TEKnologies for a full day of engineering and exploration of your wildest ideas! Start off the day with and tens of thousands of LEGO parts, applying real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through projects like dizzying Teacup Rides, customized cuckoo clocks, and the historic Wright Flyer. Then re-engineer LEGO vehicles into mechanized machines that can traverse challenging obstacles, battle against fellow bots, and take on Play-Well instructors’ colossal creations.

Parkour Entering grades K-2 • Instructor: Matthew Lang $375 • Max 20Parkour is an active, dynamic camp that incorporates fitness, parkour, and acrobatics into one exciting, fun, and challenging week. Parkour (also known as Free-Running or Tracing) is the name for natural human movement through challenging environments or obstacles. Campers run, jump, vault, climb, balance, leap, roll, tumble, and move in every quadrupedal manner imaginable. Parkour is problem-solving while in motion, and encourages each kid to examine their limits (both perceived and achieved) and to assess and understand risk. Kids will learn that motion can change emotion, that tenacity yields growth, and that self-awareness enables self-confidence.

Urban Explorers Entering grades 2-6 • Instructor: Shelby Brown*$375 • Max 10Join us for a week of healthy snack-making and urban exploration. This camp will begin each day at Bertschi with some simple, healthy snack-making. After that, we will map out our day’s adventure together. Campers will then embark on foot to explore areas around Bertschi such as Volunteer Park, Interlaken Park, the Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop, and more, enjoying their lunches and snacks in nature. We will likely allow time for sketching, journaling, and bird-watching as well. Campers should be able, willing, and happy to walk!

Bertschi Explores: Lakes and Fresh Water Fun

Entering grades K-6 • Instructor: Bertschi Faculty* $295 • Max 30Bertschi Explores is our signature summer camp featuring a fun-filled week of themed activities and field trips designed for all ages. Kids will explore the fresh water sources in our area by visiting local lakes and watershed areas of the Pacific Northwest. At the end of the day, kids will enjoy water-based games and activities on the Bertschi campus including a Slip ‘N Slide and water balloons.

Intro to Bertschi Kindergarten Entering Bertschi Kindergarten in Fall 2020 Instructor: Carolyn Atkinson & Naomi Bosch$295 • Max 15Use the summer as a jumping off point for a fun and successful year ahead with our kindergarten readiness camp. Through group games, personal and

collaborative art projects, and exploratory activities across the Bertschi campus,

campers will build their familiarity with kindergarten social skills,

routines, and spaces, while also being supported in

sharing their hopes and curiosities

about entering kindergarten.

Bertschi Explores: I Heart the Salish Sea

Entering grades K-6 • Instructor: Bertschi Faculty* $375 • Max 30Bertschi Explores is our signature summer camp featuring a fun-filled week of themed activities and field trips designed for all ages. Kids will engage in an unforgettable experience interacting with the beaches and bodies of water in the Seattle region. We will study local natural history and learn about the native peoples of the region. Kids will gain a deepened appreciation for the beautiful place we call home. At the end of the day, kids will enjoy water-based games and activities on the Bertschi campus including a Slip ‘N Slide and water balloons.

STEM Challenge + Harry Potter with LEGO Entering grades K-3 Instructor: Play-Well TEKnologies$375 • Max 24Gear up for a full-day LEGO camp packed with hands-on and minds-on STEM fun! In this challenge-based program, build dizzying Teacup Rides, customized cuckoo clocks, and the historic Wright Flyer. Then travel to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: visit Diagon Alley, play a game of Quidditch, and duel the evil Lord Voldemort. Engineering and Wizardry are the focus of this new camp for LEGO fanatics.

Disney Song and Dance Entering grades 3-6 Instructor: Youth Theatre Northwest$450 • Max 12From Agrabah to Arendelle, the world of Disney is vast and catchy! In this camp, students will work on vocal, dance, and acting skills through some of the best of Disney’s expansive songbook. Hone the musical theatre actor’s tools: reading music, following choreography, vocal confidence, in both solo and ensemble performance. The class will work together to create a final showcase on the last day that is sure to be Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Bertschi Explores: Water Lab

Entering grades K-6 • Instructor: Bertschi Faculty*$375 • Max 30Bertschi Explores is our signature summer camp featuring a fun-filled week of themed activities and field trips designed for all ages. Kids will be outdoors learning about marine life and salmon migration through field trips and on-campus projects. Campers will conduct a hands-on biology project in Bertschi’s celebrated Living Building Science Wing. At the end of the day, kids will enjoy water-based games and activities on the Bertschi campus including a Slip ‘N Slide and water balloons.

Tennis and Ultimate Frisbee Entering grades 1-6 • Instructor: TGA Sports $425 • Max 20TGA Premier Sports camps maximize the fun by including instruction, games, and exciting activities to

help players of all experience levels develop their skills, knowledge,

and passion for the sport. Each day features an action-packed schedule that keeps campers active and engaged while building friendships and learning

key life lessons including teamwork, sportsmanship,

perseverance, and leadership. Tennis instruction

focuses on forehand, backhand, volley, and serving skills, daily match-

play, and lessons on the rules and etiquette of the sport. Ultimate features marking, throwing, catching, and defending instruction, daily matches with rotating teams, and lessons on the Spirit of the Game.

Karate Entering grades K-3 • Instructor: Karate-X $425 • Max 20Join Karate-X this summer for one exciting and challenging week of sweat, discipline, determination, and fun. Students will learn and practice Karate skills with punching bags, breaking boards, blocking drills, kicking targets, and more. Each day will include cardio, strength, and agility training to keep bodies primed for mobility, action, and good health. Kids will be challenged and motivated while building self-confidence and discipline. For beginners who have never tried Karate to athletes of any sport, Karate-X will challenge and grow bodies and minds.

Train to Hogwarts Entering grades K-3 Instructor: Youth Theatre Northwest$450 • Max 12Campers will go on a magical Hogwarts adventure, creating their own story together by the end of the week. Using imagination and the basics of acting, movement, and storytelling, campers will meet characters, problem solve, and use magic to explore live out a story never before heard in the wizarding world.

Entering grades K-6 • Instructor: Bertschi Faculty*$375 • Max 30Bertschi Explores is our signature summer camp featuring a fun-filled week of themed activities and field trips designed for all ages. Kids will experience how the Puget Sound region supports farming, from urban to rural settings. Children will gain hands-on experience using basic farming tools, learn to plant and maintain their own plants and vegetables, and begin to develop an important relationship with the food that they eat. Field trips will include visits to local farms and gardens. At the end of the day, kids will enjoy water-based games and activities on the Bertschi campus including a Slip ‘N Slide and water balloons.

Mime, Slapstick, and Clowning Entering grades 1-6 • Instructor: Rebecca Schaffer$385 • Max 20Interested in the fundamentals of mime and creating illusion? Campers will learn the foundation of Marcel Marceau’s pantomime-based storytelling in order to explore specificity and articulation of the body. Once mastered, students will begin to play in the highly physical space of slapstick comedy: the art of the physical gag. Kids will explore slapstick comedy basics including pratfalls, slapstick combat, and the fundamentals of physical timing. The week will finish with a series of clown exercises designed to cultivate play, impulse response, and imagination. Families are invited for an end-of-week presentation.

Yoga & Mindfulness Entering grades 3-6 Instructor: Colibri Kids Yoga with Kara-Lee$385 • Max 12Tap into your senses by connecting with nature. Nature has a magical way of regulating our nervous system. In our extremely high-speed culture, every piece of information and stimulus that we take in activates our nervous system. Yoga and mindfulness gives us a chance to pause and reconnect. Campers will learn life-long skills that will bring them back into the moment through sensory exploration, body movement, breathing, listening, games, and creativity. Yoga mats are not required but welcome.

Playmaking Entering grades 1-6 • Instructor: Rebecca Schaffer $385 • Max 20Learn how to collaboratively build a play from the ground up. Campers will use physical theater exercises to push against time and space, and literary devices to facilitate a well-made story. While learning the elements of design, kids will create their own scenery, props, and costumes out of basic materials. The week culminates in a performance of a short play written by the kids.

Digital Music Production Entering grades 1-6 Instructor: Darrow Andelin $425 • Max 15 This camp will deep dive into songwriting, recording, and composing music. Using Digital Audio Workstations, campers will gain a birds-eye-view of the song creation process and learn how to make and record music just like the pros. Kids will learn by doing, making practical use of music theory concepts covered in the camp. Tools including real instruments, keyboards, microphones, and thousands of software instruments like drums, horns, violins, and synthesizers will available–a large array of options to cultivate inspiration and creative confidence. Campers will take home their very own .mp3 that they can listen to anytime.
