PBS ~ Positive Behaviour for Success This week we congratulate: Fred, Harry and Aida for receiving their Bronze Awards and Fred, Kai, Jax, Frankie and Sophia for receiving their Silver awards.

Responsibility

Do the right thing at the right time Focus: leaving school in the afternoon

The end of the school day can be exciting for many of our students with the rush and hustle to get home quickly. To ensure their safety we ask that all children follow our school reminder “Show when you go” and wait sensibly at the bottom gate. This allows the teacher on gate duty to keep a visual check on students while they wait for pick up. This time of the day is busy with traffic and children are not permitted to cross the road independently. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please be mindful of “No Standing“zones to avoid parking fines.

5 Ways to Wellbeing

Nourishing our mental wellbeing is as important as nourishing strong healthy bodies. We want our students to develop a lifelong habit to look after their mental health and wellbeing. We are

doing this through teaching the “5 Ways to Wellbeing” in all classrooms.

This week we will be focusing on: Be Active

Do what you can, enjoy what you do, move your mood.

Go for a walk or run. Cycle, play a game, garden, dance. Exercising makes you feel good. Discover a physical activity you enjoy and suits your level of fitness.

IMPORTANT: being active does not mean cardio fitness activity.

DR JUSTIN COULSON PRESENTS

Wednesday 18th September 10am, Mittagong RSL Anxiety in your Child

BERRIMA LEARNING HABITS ~ Inquisitive

“Curiosity is an itch that lives inside your head, in the place where thoughts reside. Curiosity appears when the eyes start asking questions. Children’s eyes are always curious. They want to see what’s hidden, what’s behind things.” -Rubem Alves

LIBRARY NEWS

What a fabulous time we all had at the Book Week events! The school was swarming with book characters and book love was evident at every turn. Thank you to the teachers and school community members for the readings of favourite picture books, thanks for the effort with costumes and a huge thanks to Stage 3, Mr Worner and Miss Jones for organising, styling and running our Book Fair. Much gratitude to the parents and children who supported us by buying up big at the Fair. We will have nearly $750 in commission to purchase new books for the library. What a windfall!

Very appreciative of the way our wonderful community gets behind us, Mrs Kennedy

AUSTRALIAN READING HOUR On Thursday September 19 2019, Australian Reading Hour is encouraging Australians across the country to pick up a book and read for one hour by yourself or with the children in your life. You might like to read at home, in your favourite cafe or perhaps at your local library. Why not get a few friends or colleagues together and throw a silent reading party? Or enjoy an extra-long bedtime story with the children in your life? Mrs Kennedy

With thanks Annabelle Robertson P&C President A MESSAGE OF THANKS I just want to say a big thank you to all the people who bought raffle tickets at my stall at the Berrima markets last Sunday. There were also some people who just donated generous amounts to help fund my trip, thank you all so much. I'm so excited and proud to represent our school at a national level as well as all of NSW in the U10 girls NSW long jump team at the National PSSA Athletics championship in Darwin next month. I have just found out that I've also been selected to run the 100m leg of the NSW U10 girls medley relay. I would also like thank the P&C for letting me sell tickets at the markets where we exceeded expectations in the amount of tickets sold. I couldn't of been done without you, my journey wasn't easy but all teachers
