BERLINSCIENCEWEEKFINAL REPORT 2019
Berlin Science Week |2
AT A GLANCEBerlin Science Week is a 10-day international festival between 1 — 10 November bringing together the world’s most innovative scientific organisations to celebrate science, to connect and to engage the international science community with the public.
As a hub for interdisciplinary dialogue, our mission is to enable and strengthen an international and diverse scientific network.
Berlin Science Week gives greater visibility to science, research and innovation. It is the global platform for dialogue and collab-oration between science and society that inspires a deeper understanding of our world:
ALL WE KNOW FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.

In 2019, over 20,000 visitors participated in over 140 events hosted by 130 organisations, including 26 international hosts.
More than 400 speakers discussed some of the most pressing issues of our time at the intersection of science, society and industry in a variety of public and invitation-only events:
From the future of work, energy or food, to digital identity, climate change, cyberspace, open access, gender equality, surveillance capitalism, vertical mobility, and many more. Event formats include workshops, conferences, exhibitions, roundtables, poetry slams, or multi-day festivals.
For the first time in 2019, Berlin Science Week Campus opened its doors as a two-day central festival hub at Museum fürNaturkunde Berlin. 31 events and 14 exhibitions were visited by more than 2,300 attendees, prompting a renewal in 2020.

“Berlin Science Week is a great opportunity to bring our research to the general public, explain what we do, and help make things transparent so that people understand that machine learning and AI can actually be of benefit to them and to society.“
”To be able to collaborate and engage with other people who work towards the same goals in making science better known and moving science forward – Berlin Science Week is a great place to do it.“
„Science is an international endeavour. It needs inter-national collaboration and the Royal Society is really happy to be in Berlin. To have all the people together in one place in the Berlin Science Week Campus is an inspiring idea.“
„Berlin Science Week connects established thinkers with new ideas. This is a particularly exciting opportunity for our research and development in medicine.“
