On your marks!

Get set!

GO!

The 2018 Athletics carnival went off with a

bang as Blaxland East Students competed in discuss, shotput, high jump, long jump and the running events. On top of that, we enjoyed ourselves at the novelties and tug of war!

The weather was with us as we ran around, earning house points and ribbons. Hardworking teachers and

canteen volunteers laboured to make the day perfect- none more than Miss Thomas, the organizer. Congratulations to ribbon earners and congratulations to everyone who participated courageously!

Story: The Kingdom of Doom By: Tyler Duric 3D

It all began with a kingdom far away in Doom Land where people got treated like rubbish. Like they had to pick up 15gms of material. The king was very harsh. Once he made people carry a house and that is very harsh.

“But anyway, my name is John Hunter born in Merry Village. But all I want to do is to convince the king of Doom Land to think he has been too harsh. But his kingdom of Doom is three miles and it only lets people that live in Doom Land, but I only just moved here so they might not know me. So anyway,” John Hunter said, “I will just go to the kingdom.” Then he got there and there was a list on the wall that said the names that live here but he looked down and saw John Hunter. So, he went in and saw the King crying. But he didn’t know why so John said, “Hello King.”

“Oh hello what are you here for?”

“I just want to tell you that you are being too harsh to our people.”

“I know that’s why I was just crying.” So the king walked three miles with John Hunter and when they got there the king said, “I will stop being so harsh. So you can be workless and not be so tired.” So when the King finished talking John said,

“What are you missing?” The King said,

“Oh what am I missing? Oh I remember wait people I am so sorry.” Said the king. So then John said

“Thank you”,

The king said “No worries.” And John went home in peace with his family.

MEET A COMMUNITY MEMBER

Core Values Page This Term’s Core Value: Participate Courageously

My hands shook in my pockets. I wouldn’t have been surprised if someone told me my trousers were vibrating. I couldn’t control them or the cyclone in my stomach. Sweat drooled down my forehead and I stared at the crowd in front of me. The crowd stared back. It was Speech Day. And I was first up.

I shifted nervously on my chair as Mrs Bryan made her way up to the lectern. The school principal had made thousands of speeches, while I sat in the audience. I always thought it was the easiest thing in the world.

Until now.

I didn’t want to be here. I didn’t want to make the first speech of my life. I didn’t want to step out of my narrow comfort zone.

But there I was.

“Please welcome our first speaker to the stage.”

Four hundred pairs of hands erupted into thunderous applause. I swallow hard and slowly walked to the microphone, afraid my legs would collapse. Faces waited expectantly as I cleared my throat. I could do this. I could try something new.

“Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls. Welcome to Blaxland East Public School. A place where we follow our school core values. And that, is the only reason I am up on this stage.”
