Benjamin Franklin
Biography of Benjamin Franklin: Benjamin Franklin was born on January 7, 1706 and died on April 17, 1790. He was
born in Boston. His father is Josiah Franklin who was a soap and candle maker while he
has 2 mothers named Anne Child and Abiah Folger. Benjamin was the fifth and last child of the Franklin family. He was
removed from school at the age of 10 and started working with his father at the candle
shop.
What Did Benjamin Franklin Do? In 1748, Franklin, had expanded his printing business throughout the colonies and is rich
enough to stop working. He conducted experiments that contributed to the
understanding of electricity, and invented the lightning rod, which protected buildings
from fires caused by lightning. He conducted the kite experiment and
demonstrated that lightning is electricity.
Interview with Benjamin Franklin! Me: Hello Mr.Franklin how are you today?
Benjamin Franklin: Good, how are you today? Me: Good,Mr.Franklin what encouraged you to do the “kite experiment”?
Benjamin Franklin: What encouraged me to do this “kite experiment” was because I wanted to find out if my electricity kite can draw lighting from a cloud.
Me: How did that turn out for you Mr.Franklin? Benjamin Franklin: Well..it didn’t turn out so well apparently.
Me: What did you learn from this experiment that you’ve done that is so well known today?
Benjamin Franklin: I have learned that thunder could be very powerful and it can be dangerously dangerous it also has the power to turn something on.

1706Born in Boston, Massachusetts.
1718Works for his brother James at the printing shop.
1728He opened his own printing shop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
1729He became the owner and publisher of the Pennsylvania Gazette.
1731He was the founder of the very first library.
1748Retires from his printing company.
1752He conducted the kite and the electricity experiment.
1757He went to England as a colonial representative.
1776He and the other men sign the Declaration of Independence there at England.
1782He consulted the Treaty of Peace with Great Britain.
1787He signs the Constitution of United States.
1790He passed away in Philadelphia.
