FLOEGEL-SHETTY RESIDENCEFinn Kappe, KappeStudio The Floegel-Shetty residence reconciles two main architectural desires expressed by the clients. The first was for a formal, minimalist and transparent glass box, allowing a strong visual connection with the dramatic surroundings. The second was for an informal component that was protective, shielding, mysterious and sensual. What evolved was a sculptural structure striking a balance between opposing formal desires.

HEUSCH RESIDENCEGerhard HeuschThe house is an example of an innovative solution to circumvent the 15 foot setback requirement for hillside residences. By elevating the structure the need for a tall retaining wall was eliminated. The use of natural materials such as Brazilian walnut floors inside and out, Portuguese limestone and Spanish marble define the interior spaces. The restrictive palette throughout and the custom designed furniture and cabinets characterize the minimalist environment.
