 Problem  1    For  each  of  the  cases  below,  solve  for  the  bending  deformation  w(x).

Problem  3    For  each  case,  find  the  moment  and  shear  distribution  along  the  beam.  Also  plot  the  shear  and  moment  diagrams.    

     Problem  4    Find  the  bending  stresses  at  the  labeled  points:  

       Problem  5    A  nylon  spacing  bar  has  the  cross  section  shown.  Knowing  that  the  allowable  stress  for  the  grade  of  nylon  used  is  24  MPa,  determine  the  largest  couple  Mz  that  can  be  applied  to  the  bar.

Problem  6    Find  the  bending  stresses  at  points  A,  B  and  D.  

   Problem  7    Determine  the  maximum  force  P  that  can  be  applied  to  the  handle  so  that  the  A-­‐36  steel  control  rod  BC  does  not  buckle.  The  rod  has  a  diameter  of  25  mm.
