Name: Molly Schaefer
Title: Turkey, Turkey
Grade Level: Second grade
Date and Time: November 8, 2015, 6:00pm
Objectives:
1. Students will be able to sing the tune, Turkey, Turkey
2. Students will be able to match pitch
3. Students will be able to recognize classmates voices
4. Students will be able to use body and solfege signs while singing Turkey, Turkey
5. Students will be able to sing Turkey, Turkey, while reading the music notation
6. Students will be able to transpose Turkey, Turkey and sing correct notes
Materials:
1. Piano or pitch pipe
2. Marker
Procedure:
1. Teacher will sing Turkey, Turkey to the class

Turkey, Turkey, Where’s your corn?

Someone took it in the mourn
2. Teacher will use short phrase call and response
Turkey, Turkey Where’s your corn? (class echoes)
Someone took it in the morn (class echoes)
3. Teacher will have the class sing the entire song together
4. Teacher will have the class walk to the carpet and form a circle
5. Teacher will explain the voice recognition game and pick a volunteer to sit in the middle
6. Teacher and students will play the game, Turkey, Turkey
7. Teacher will stop and sing the song while using body signs, and ask students to watch
Students will try the body signs while singing the song
8. Teacher will sing the song while using solfege hand signs
Students will try the solfege hand sings while singing the song
9. Teacher will have the class walk back to their seats, and notate the song on the board
10. Teacher will write the solfege letter names above the notes, and have the class sing the
song using solfege syllables and hand signs.
11. Teacher will transpose the song, write the solfege syllables above the notation, and have
class sing the song once more with solfege syllables and hand signs.
• Teacher will be sure to repeat any steps necessary.
Assessment:
1. Teacher will listen to students for correct notes, rhythms, lyrics (group)
2. Teacher will visually observe and listen to each student while in the circle for voice recogni-
tion (individual)
3. Teacher will visually observe each student for correct body signs (individual)
4. Teacher will visually observe each student for correct solfege hand signs (individual)
5. Teacher will listen for correct notes while using body signs and hand signs (individual)
6. Teacher will listen for correct notes after transposing the song (group)
Evaluation:
1. Were students able to sing the tune, Turkey, Turkey?
