CYSS offers various programs to support children and families with child care, recreation, socialization and child development for children of all ages. The Child Development Centers (CDCs) offer full day and hourly child care programs for ages 6 weeks–5 years old. School Age Center (SAC) offers a vari-ety of care, including part day preschool and full day, hourly, and before and after school care for school age children. The Family Child Care (FCC) program offers full day, hourly, before and after school and extended hours care for ages 6 weeks–12 years old. The Youth Center (YC) offers an after-school middle school program, open recreation, health, fitness and social opportunities for 6th grade and up.

Child Development Centers (CDC’s)Army CYSS Programs have been described as “a model for the na-tion,” and they do the best to deserve that accolade! All of our cen-ters are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The rates are competitive with other programs of comparable quality. Hourly care is also available at South Post CDC Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–4:30 pm. Reservations may be made up to four weeks in advance. If you want to know about the daily lesson plans, schedules and routines, child growth and development issues, or what constitutes a quality day care experience for children, just ask! Strong Beginnings Pre-K This program targets school readiness by focusing on social, emo-tional, academic and physical development children preparing to enter kindergarten. Students’ progress is reported to parents to en-sure that they’re reaching expected school readiness goals. During a typical morning, students focus on Mathematics, Language/Literacy, Science/Technology or Social Studies; they engage in fun interactive learning stations for Creative Expression, Art, Woodworking, Cook-ing, Water/Sand and Music/Movement. Markham School Age Center (SAC)SAC complements the school day with a state-of-the-art

computer lab and homework center to ensure sup-port with school assignments. During the school year, SAC offers part day preschool and prekinder-garten programs for children 3–5 years old. The curriculum emphasizes physical well-being, language usage, attentiveness, imagination, world knowledge, social and emotional development.

Family Time Computer Lab at Markham SACThe lab is open on the 2nd & 4th Saturday of every

month from 9:30 am–1:30 pm. For more information, call 703.805.9100.

Family Child Care (FCC) FCC homes serve children 4 weeks to 12 years of age in a home-like environment that allows siblings to be in care together. Fees are based on total family income and follow DoD fee guidance as in other Fort Belvoir CYSS programs. The Fort Belvoir FCC pro-gram offers a variety of flexible care options that meet regular and mission-related child care needs to include full-day, hourly, before/ after school, extended care (overnight and weekend), special needs and on and off-post care. Off-post care is offered in the counties of Fairfax, Prince William (Woodbridge, Manassas, Dumfries Road) and Stafford. For more information, please contact the FCC office at 703.805.9137/9134/9132.

Army Child Care in Your Neighborhood (ACCYN)The U.S. Army and the National Association of Child Care Re-source & Referral Agencies (NACCRRA) have joined forces to help Army Families find and pay for quality off-post child care through Army Child Care in Your Neighborhood (ACCYN). Army Families eligible for the program are active duty Army, Army DoD civilians, active duty Army Guard & Reserve. The goal of this project is to en-sure civilian child care programs provide care to Army Families that are comparable in quality and cost to Army operated on-post spaces.

ACS assists the military community by developing, coordinating and delivering services which help promote self-reliance, resilien-cy and stability during war and peace. ACS classes and training are designed to equip Soldiers and Families with the skills, knowl-edge and support needed to face the challenges of military life.

Information & Referral ProgramThe I&R Program maintains an integrated resource file of sources of service to which personnel may be referred. Referral procedures are used when it is not possible to provide immediate direct assistance. Follow-up procedures are provided to ensure that needs have been met.

The SOS mission is to educate the community about the SOS Program and advocate on behalf of all Families who have suffered the loss of a Soldier. They strive to build a unified support program which embraces and reassures Survivors that they are continually linked to the Army Family for as

long as they desire through resouces, to include sup-port groups, newsletters and social activities.

Accomplished or up-and-coming artists and crafts people can develop their artistic skills or discover new ones in the The Kawamura Arts & Craft Center. It houses the MWR Frame Shop, Wood Shop and Auto Shop. The Frame Shop offers custom fram-ing—you can do your own framing, take a class or have it done for you! Plaques, flag boxes, shadow boxes, shadow frames and engraving services are also available. The Multi-Craft Area offers a variety of classes listed below. The Wood Shop offers a wood-working safety class and the capabilities of pen and bowl turning on a lathe, furniture, toy, ornament, deskplate construction and more. The Automotive Shop offers bays for doing your work, a safety class and basic automotive maintenance classes. small or large outdoor parties and picnics. We offer large grills, dunk tanks, tables, chairs and a variety of party canopies. Camping gear, bikes, fishing rods, volleyball sets and many other items available; all items may be reserved in advance.

Facility & Park Rental ODR has a classroom that can be reserved and 3 parks available for parties or organizational days. The parks are Castle Park located on the water at Tomkins Basin, Fremont Field and Soldier Statesman Park located in the heart of Fort Belvoir (just south of Route 1). Cost is $100 per day ($125 for Castle Park) in addition to a $100 refundable cleaning deposit. Call 703.805.3081 for more info.

Archery Center and Outdoor Archery Ranges / HoursThe operating hours are Wednesday–Friday, 1–9 pm and Saturday–Sunday 9 am–5 pm. Archery rental equipment is available. For fees call 703.805.3688.

Archery Center and Outdoor Archery Ranges / FeaturesThe Archery Center has one 20 and 30 yard indoor field point range, one outdoor 20 and 30 yard broad head range, one outdoor field point range with a variety of different shooting distances from 10 to 60 yards and one 14 station wooded trail walk field point range. Customers may purchase a daily shooting pass or an annual mem-bership pass for the ranges of their choice.

Beginner Archery Classes Beginner classes are conducted every Monday from 6–8 pm; registration begins before class at 5:30 pm. Archery equip-ment is included in the class fee. Call 703.805.3688 for additional information.
