CAMERA NOTIFICATION Belvedere Elementary School is equipped with a video camera system. It covers selected interior and exterior public portions of the building and grounds. It is NOT monitored constantly, but it is monitored during emergency situations. During certain events, when the safety or security of students may be in question, authorized person-nel from local, state, or federal police or fire emer-gency units may be given access to view images projected on the camera system. If you have any questions about the system, you should call the Supervisor of School Security at 410-222-5083.

Federal Impact Aid Survey Forms

On Tuesday, October 1, 2019, your child will bring home a Federal Impact Aid Survey form. Please assist us by filling out the information requested on the form and return it to

your child’s teacher.

The U.S. Department of Education now allows a multiple child form. AACPS has designed a form that allows two children’s names for your convenience. Should you have more than two children, please utilize a second form that you can either obtain from the school or

download from the AACPS website at www.aacps.org/students.

Also, please note that the complete name of the Parent/Guardian’s Employer if they work on Federal Property, the complete address for the Federal Property on which

they work and each survey must be signed and dated by the Parent/Guardian.

The Federal Impact Aid Survey from 2019-20 will be available to download on October 1, 2019. We will also be using our Connect-Ed Automated Telephone Notification System to remind everyone about the significance of completing and returning this survey. The school system receives approximately $2million in funding from

the Federal Government in support of our children after the forms are processed.

Thank you in advance for your support and assistance. Should you have any questions re-garding this information, please call Angie Smack in the Finance Office at 410-222-5200.

SCHOOL SECURITY

During the summer our scanning technology and software were updat-ed. Due to this update, all visitors will have to be scanned in upon arrival to the building. Please be prepared to show your picture identification as the new system did not upload old data. Thank you for your coopera-tion in this matter.

Belvedere Elementary September 2018

Welcome Back! Below are a few reminders that will continue to help us keep everyone safe

during arrival and dismissal.

Reminders for Arrival

• Student drop off begins at 8:45, doors open at this time.

• There is no supervision for students prior to 8:45am

• Students eating breakfast should go to the cafeteria between 8:45-9:00am

• Doors close at 9:00am

• Students arriving after 9:00am should come through the main entrance. They will be marked late and

receive a tardy slip.

Car Riders

• To keep the line moving in the morning, please have students prepared for drop off. It’s helpful to have

their back packs on so they can get out of the car quickly and safely. Please be cautious of other students

being dropped off and people in the crosswalk.

• If you arrive before 8:45, please pull up to the end of the building to let other cars in the lot.

• If you need to get out of your car to assist your child or walk them to the door, please pull through the car

line and park your car in the allotted parking spots.

• When exiting the car line please alternate every car when merging to one lane.

• For the safety of our students, families and staff, please refrain from using your cell phones while in the

parking lot.

Tardy Students- If your child is late to school, per AACPS policy, an adult must walk the student

into the building. For the safety of our students, please do not drop your child off if he or she

arrives after 9:00am.

Dismissal

• Dismissal is at 3:25pm

• If you need to pick your child up early, please do so before 3:00pm.

• If you have a last minute pick-up change in transportation, (for example bus rider changing to car rider)

please contact the main office before 3:00pm. If this is a planned change, please send a note in for your

child’s teacher. Keeping a consistent mode of transportation helps your child to establish a routine and

helps us to maintain a safe dismissal.

• Please display your car tag at all times while in the car lane.

• Students who are not picked up at dismissal will be waiting in the office.

Fire Lanes

Please avoid leaving unattended vehicles in the Fire Lanes marked with red painted curbs. Pull into a parking

space if you need to leave your vehicle.

Welcome back! My name is Altone Frazier, RN, BSN, and I will be your child's school nurse! Myself along with my health assistant, Diane Rzepkowski, LPN, are excited to meet everyone. Some friendly reminders for the upcoming school year: • Wash your hands! The #1 way to prevent sick days is to take the time to wash your hands after using the restroom, doing yard work and touching contaminated surfaces. • ALL medications given at school need a medication administration form signed by the doctor. Please let the health staff know if your child has been injured and needs to wear a boot or use crutches. A physician's note is required. My number is (410) 975-9831 and email is [email protected]. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. Have a healthy school year! Altone Frazier, RN

PPW Spotlight- August/September 2019

Hello! Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I am always excited this time of year to see everyone return to school and get off to a great start! My name is Allison Mathews and I am the PUPIL PERSONNEL WORKER (aka PPW) for the Broadneck Feeder system. I enjoy this caseload because I get to work at the elementary, middle and high school levels with many of our families. I work to help families make sure that students are attending school each day so they can be successful this year and beyond! We take attendance very seriously on the Broadneck Peninsula. We have worked hard this summer to put into place some great strategies to help families. Our goal is to have each stu-dent in school learning every day. We become seriously concerned when a student misses 10% of the school year regardless if the absences are excused or unexcused. This is the num-ber we use for students that are considered CHRONICALLY ABSENT. Each month our at-tendance committee takes a close look at the students who have been absent 10% of the pos-sible days. In September that means just 2 absences will place a student on this list. We want to challenge each family to keep their children OFF of the CHRONICALLY ABSENT list for this year! Here are a few tips to get off on the right foot this school year!!

✓ Establish good routines- healthy eating, consistent bedtimes and a morning routine

will all help get everyone off to school on time!

✓ Set a time to review your child’s agenda and be informed about what he/she is learn-

ing

✓ Attend Back To School night and any other School events so you are in the know!

Please feel free to contact me if you are having any issues with your child’s attendance. We will work together as a team to solve any problem you may have!! Have a great 2019-2020 School Year!! Allison Mathews [email protected]
