Bellringer 1/27/15

1. Terrestrial planets move more rapidly in their orbits than the Jovian planets because terrestrial planets area. Rotating on a tilted axisb. More densec. More massived. Closer to the Sun

2.

Solar Motions• Revolution- the movement of one

object around another.• The earth is constantly traveling

around the sun.• It takes the Earth 365 days to

complete one revolution around the sun.

• The moon is also revolving. It revolves around the Earth.

At certain times, the sun, moon and Earth are in alignment.Either the moon can cast a shadow on the Earth, or the Earth can cast a shadow on the moon. When the sun, moon, and Earth are in perfect alignment, it is known as an eclipse.

Eclipses

There are 2 main types of eclipses:

Solar eclipse- Sun – moon – Earth

Lunar eclipse – Sun – earth - moon

Solar vs. Lunar Eclipse
