Why are you a womens and gender studies/LGBT studies minor? Thats such awaste of time. You should be concentrating on broadcast. or Youre a womans and

gender studies minor, so what, you want to become a professional lesbian?

The very fact that schools need to opt in to taking this climate survey potentially

excludes a significant part of the higher education population. What about the

schools that dont even make the list? Are they ashamed that their university might

score low or do they believe that their school has no need to reach out to LGBTQ

students? Perhaps, a positive climate index is seen as a negative thing.

I was sitting in class today trying to work on an assignment, but I couldnt

concentrate. I should have expected it, I was in Newhouse the site of 99% of the

heterosexism and blatant homophobia I come into contact with. Coversations

jumped from one to another- would you rather AROD was sticking it up Jeters vagon giving to him in the ass, personally Id rather Jeter have a vag. As if the thats so

gay insult couldnt be offensive enough we must bring in gender and sexuality. Areyou insinuating shes a lesbian, because I take great offense to that. Another

comment I heard about a students celebrity crush. Oh, look hes got a picture of hisboyfriend as the wallpaper on his computer. Faceiously said about a student who

had a picture of a man of his desktop. The comments kept coming and kept coming,

at first it was only a couple of students but before I knew it half the class had joined

in. They saw it as humor. I saw it as gay bashing. I opened my mouth to speak out

against their words but their comments were like bullets making it impossible for

me to stand up. I was silenced, I was beaten down, I was unable to do my work and I

was unable too physically bear the emotional torment these students were putting

me through. Yet they never even noticed. I left the room and went to stand in the

bathroom for a few minutes until I calmed down. I wouldnt let them see me cry.
