The View, the View, the View

In Fall, the panoramic view of the turning leaves is breathtaking.

In the Winter, you can see the skiers at nite on Gunstock mountainand look at snowcapped Mt. Shaw in the distance which is reallybeautiful at this time.

In the summer, you can see the twinkling lights of Laconia in thedistance at night; you can watch the Mt. Washington crossing theLake in the distance; on the Forth of July you can see lots of townfireworks in the distance; and you can watch storms coming inover the hills and the Lake far in front of you. The range of view is180 degrees and it’s always changing so it never gets boring, justvery peaceful.

The Privacy

The area is secluded, quiet, peaceful, private; no visitors comingup the road, no noise from neighbors; yet you’re not alone. Sinceall the land out towards Beach Pond is Town owned, there’s no-body to disrupt the view--you see no houses. The house sits on 6acres but there’s an extra 10 acre parcel included on the other sideof Suncrest Drive (going all the way down to Beach Pond Road)

We’re 7 miles from town (stores, Hospital)-only takes 9 minutesto get there; we’re 2 miles from the 7-11 store on Rt. 28 (gas, pizza, etc.); and we’re 1 mile from the Town dump (very handy);yet we’re “remote”. Being at 1400 feet, the breeze is always blow-ing, keeping the area much cooler than in town.

Our Beautiful Home.

We have gas fireplaces for convenience, but a really good wood-burning fireplace in the Great Room which is much enjoyed bycompany on cold winter days.We really use our Dumbwaiter forbringing up laundry from the lower level to the laundry room andsending them down and for sending purchased supplies upstairs. The Dumbwaiter serves all three levels.

For dinners with company (like Thanksgiving), we put everythingout on the large Center Island-buffet style, and it works out won-derfully.

We really find air conditioning on those hot days to be a must, and the house is actually cooled by three condensers so that if oneever goes out the other two still keep the house cool.

We have a 12KW automatic emergency generator which runson propane from an underground storage tank. The 400 gallontank can supply the house with electricity for a week so we feelvery secure.

The guest quarters are on the lower level to give complete privacyfor visiting families. For large family visits, two sleep in the GuestBedroom, three sleep in the Family Room, one in the Office, andwe put two on the upstairs landing area (or the Sewing Room)using roll-out beds stored in the attic.

The floor of the attic over the Garage is built for additional roomswhich can be easily added by adding dormers front and back. Themain stairway to the upstairs is reinforced for the addition of anelectric stair seat if every needed. All doorways are at least 32” forthe use of a wheelchair.

Two of the three showers are walk-in; only the Guest Bath has atub. We really enjoy the Master Bath Jacuzzi because you can sitin there and look out, gaze up at the stars at nite, etc.

We have a Cedar Closet for winter clothes storage next to the mas-ter walk-in closet.

We have a bathroom, a utility closet, and a wash tub on every floorfor convenience, and we use them all.

The Garage is oversized and deep so you don’t bang doors whenyou get out, and there’s room in the back for a work bench.

There is a distributed coax cable system throughout the housefrom an electronic center in the basement, and there is conduitin Great Room walls between the TV cabinet and the Mediacabinet and the Basement for flexibility in installing customelectronics.

The house has a modern security alarm system with motiondetectors everywhere (including the Garage) so we feel safe. The alarm system dials in to a central location, and the outsidephone wire runs underground and up the nearest pole in con-duit to be immune from cutting.

The natural beauty of the Lakes Region is breathtaking. It is verymuch appreciated from the Belle View on Suncrest Drive inWolfeboro. Lake Winnipesaukee is the largest lake in NewHampshire at over 44,000 acres and 200 feet deep surrounded bymountain vistas and the best that Mother Nature can provide. Itencompasses the towns of Alton, Gilford, Laconia, Meredith,Center Harbor, Moultonborough, Tuftonboro and Wolfeboro. Each town has its own amenities and personality, all con-nected by the natural splendor of “The Big Lake”. You will find some of the most valuable waterfront

homes in the State on the 180 miles of shoreline, though by comparison to properties in surroundingstates, the value is clear. The lake is a boating, fishing, scuba diving and water enthusiasts paradise. Fromlate May to October, the MS Mount Washington, dating back to1872 and today carries over 60,000 passengers a season withdaily excursions and dinner cruises.

In the winter you will find some of the most unique “BobHouses” dotting the icescape. Snowmobile trails criss cross thelake all the way to the Canadian border. You are in the heart ofthe best skiing in all of New England. Alton Bay has the the coun-try's only FAA designated iceport on the frozen ice on Alton Bay.

Winnipesaukee and the surrounding lakes make up what isknown as the Lakes Region. The area was the inspiration and

"Smile of the Great Spirit" or "Beautiful Water in a HighPlace." At the outlet of the Winnipesaukee River, the Win-nipesaukee Indians, a subtribe of the Pennacook, lived andfished at a village called Acquadocton. Today, the site iscalled The Weirs,Lake Winnipesaukee Firsts.
