Who Are We?

• A professional theatre company that works with diverse communities based in Belsize Park, Camden with a F/T core staff of 3

• A charity and company limited by guarantee with an annual turnover of £350,000

• A member of the Independent Theatre Council• Revenue funded by Arts Council England and

London Councils• Currently in receipt of project funds from Camden

Council, City Parochial Foundation, Learning Skills Council

Our Mission

Spare Tyre uses theatre with voiceless communities to provide opportunities for people's life stories to be shared and celebrated, creating community theatre that transforms lives and challenges social prejudice.

We work intensively with up to 80 people a year who have dementia, autism, sensory impairment, physical

impairment, seizures, downs syndrome…

We train up to 40 volunteers and employ 40 regular freelance staff annually.

We reach audiences of 2,500 each year.

We have 2 Ensembles

• inc.Theatre Ensemble, artists with learning disabilities, based in Borough of Redbridge

• The HotPots, artists age 60+, based in Borough of Camden

What we do

Make shows to tour London theatre venues• Run theatre/arts workshops in day care centres for

older people in Islington, Camden and Tower Hamlets

• Run theatre/arts workshops in Watermans Arts Centre for people with learning disabilities in Hounslow

• Run an accredited theatre course and an assisted employment scheme for people with learning disabilities in Redbridge

What next?

• Short term:– New office space, including a studio space– Bigger shows, bigger tours

• Long term:– Taking our model of working out of London

Bigger shows, bigger tours

• Extend touring period from 2 weeks to 8 weeks• Investment in high production values• Investment in staff - support, press and marketing,

artists• Investment in accessible transport

Taking our model of working outside of London

• Develop strategic relationships with out of London/overseas partners– Venues/Arts organisations/Festivals– NGOs– Out of London/Overseas Charities

• Investment in research, development and final product

• Seek sponsorship
