TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN RE: ANTHONY JOSEPH I employed Anthony Joseph from spring 1998 for six months, when a restructuring of the businesses in The Bell Media Group plc changed our needs for accounting personnel due to the relocation of our premises from England to Wales. This, is the parent company of the media group which was founded in 1989 and, since then been involved in the production of radio, TV, multimedia, corporate video and Web projects for blue-chip clients. When Anthony arrived at Bell, he inherited something of a poisoned chalice. Previous accounting personnel had been terminated following the discovery of numerous discrepancies and inadequacies in the systems they had implemented. The updating task was substantial and required the rapid absorption of large amounts of data. Anthony had the accounts fully up to date and reliable remarkably quickly, introducing in the process a new system - MYOB which proved themselves in subsequent months. His presence in fact brought a new level of usefulness to our systems. This evident reliability caused me to increase the range of tasks I asked Anthony to perform and over the subsequent months he showed himself to be very capable in other areas too, such as management accounts, company secretarial work, budgeting and forecasting. Whenever I gave him increased responsibility, he responded with a calm, measured, professional and focused demeanor which inspired confidence. Whenever I asked him to investigate an Accounting issue, to prepare a report, or to perform some specific task, it would be done promptly, accurately and diligently. Indeed it was remarkable how quickly he could return with answers to my questions, with supporting spreadsheets which showed the work to be accurate. The result was that I felt these reports I could trust implicitly and enhanced respect for his skills. Towards the end of Anthony’s time with Bell, as the restructuring approached, he prepared increasingly complex analyses of historic sales, overhead, net and gross margin trends, split company budgets and forward cash flow projections with numerous scenarios. Here again, the ability to give Anthony a task and know it would be done promptly proved a real boon. He was also well-liked around the office for his gentle and caring demeanor. Anthony completed with Bell Media Group and progressed on to future contracts with other clients solely because, following the re-structuring at Bell and, our needs for accounts personnel in London drastically reduced. Had this change not taken place, I would have expected to continue to employ him and to increase still further his responsibility. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him unreservedly to any future employer and I am happy to confirm the detail of this report on the telephone (0181 563 1300).
